Description of role

You will be joining the dynamic Communications Services department, working to strengthen media and communications across the charity sector, through training, conferences and free volunteer support.

In this role you will deliver two high profile conferences a year and develop training workshops and consultancy packages spanning media and communications topics, from PR and marketing strategy to social media and video making. You will have responsibility for income generation through conference sponsorship and ticket sales as well as growing existing and potential customers for the bespoke training and consultancy service.

We are seeking a creative and organised professional to join the team.

Role includes:

Organising two high profile conferences a year

·  Project manage the organisation of two annual high profile conferences for over 100 delegates

·  Identify a topic, research and book keynote and workshop speakers and source a venue

·  Write briefs for keynote speakers and workshop leaders, setting clear learning objectives

·  Work closely with Marketing and PR team to market conferences and secure publicity both for conferences and Media Trust

·  Take responsibility for conference administration and logistics including all delegates lists, catering, publicity and presentation slides and materials

·  Set up cross organisational conference task team and organise meetings for group

·  Design and prepare on-the-day briefing packs for staff and volunteers.

·  Work closely with the fundraising team to secure sponsorship for conferences

·  Manage delegate booking process via CRM and eventbrite

·  Evaluate the conference and report on the outcomes

Write bespoke training proposals:

·  Consult clients on their training needs helping them develop a clear brief and learning objectives

·  Write bespoke training proposals for media and communications training courses and packages

·  Develop training briefs for speakers for our Open courses, outlining the agenda for the day and learning objectives

·  Research new business opportunities and support the marketing of all Media Trust Training and Events on and offline

·  Assisting with any other duties required by the department

Person Specification:

·  Experience of organising conferences, training and events (preferably conferences)

·  Excellent planning, organisational and administration skills

·  Knowledge or first hand experience designing and delivering training

·  Excellent communication skills with the ability to deal with people from all levels e.g. media, government and charities

·  Excellent writing ability

·  Good understanding of the charity and media sectors

·  Experience managing volunteers and project teams

·  Understanding of communications challenges facing the charity sector

·  Ability to act on own initiative and work autonomously when necessary

·  Knowledge of using social media

·  Confident using spreadsheets and databases including excel

·  Contacts within the charity and media sectors would be an advantage
