Now join me in a huge thank you to all ourgenerous sponsors, our wonderful contributors, our superb helpers, andmost of to all of you who attended and/or bought raffle tickets as they couldn’t make it.
This year was very special and dear to my heartas we’ve had very young members of our community taking part as they went around with their parents selling raffle tickets and vouchers. They were great ambassadors of the event.
Eesha Alexander and Leila Brown – Well done and thank you very much!
Thanks also to Stephanie Nagel, Bill Alexander, Julie Porter, Tim Heymans, Judy Forrest, Jenik,Faith and Jackie Fahy.
Now onto the day itself, from early Saturday, our bakers were busy executing their best recipes. In no particular order:
Heather Gale, Louise Vogt, Judy Forrest, Jenik Wilkins, Jennie Fry, Wanda Hamilton, Stefanie Nagel, Julie Porter, Tim Heymans, David Alexander, and Pippa Roberts. Thanks with merit to each and everyone.
Thank you also to Nick Hudson for his contribution of 6 bottles of home-made elderflower cordials.
Lots of other people were busy too, Simone Teitler prepared 4kg of strawberries;
Angela Tuthillset a record when she peeled and chopped 10kgs of onions, and our gorgeous Pimm’s ladies were brewing something around Julie’s kitchen table.
Thanks to Sarah LentonforEeyore drawing.
Our gazebos kept you dry in case it rained.Tim Porter set-up on Friday night. Tim Heyman and Iain Rosswere busy on Saturday morning, and the final gazebo was provided Hilary Webster. Thanks to all.
Thanks to Glenn Young, the Scout Master, who came to help out on Friday and Saturday morning.
Our DJ Tony Tuthill, as ever, marvelous with his music mixing.
As always, every year, Don Tanswellmovedboxes, chairs, and tablesbackwards and fowardsincluding 100 kgs of ice, bunting erection, and several shuttle trips to and from Chez Nous in Hatfield Rd.
And there is more…… on the front desk:
Angela Tuthill, Simone Teitler, and Clare Hawtin, welcomed people, sold vouchers, raffle tickets, books, CDs. And managed to throw a joke or two.
On the BBQ, Gary Malcolm, Brian Durrans, Iain Ross, Tony Tuthill, and Gary Busuttil cooked nearly 200 burgers and sausages served with fried onions.
Judy Forrest, Maria Maguire, and Jenik Wilkinsachieved a record sale for the stall.
Ann Cumming and Jennifer Frylooked after the strawberries and cream.
On the bar, Tim Heyman and Jonty Cairns diligently opened beer bottles andpopped corks.
Our secret alchemistsJulie Porter, Wanda Hamilton, Aimee Galias, and Caroline Morganmagically mixed and served over50L of Pimm’s with what we believe a potent and secret elixir responsible forthe jolly moodthat permeatedthe wholeparty.
We never knew what else you could do with salad spinner until Viv Gordon and Willimenj Bando let the little folks loose with paints and paper plates. Our little ones produced master-pieces that went on display for the event’s competition and guess what all the competitors one.
Next to the craft stall, all afternoon, there were two circles of the most contended little children ever. All the kiddies couldn’t take their eyes off Sunny as she painted and created dogs, cats, fairies, and all sorts of imaginary creatures.
And at the same time next door Eeyore waited quietly as Pat James helped our kids tried to pin Eeyore’s tail back and more prizes all round.
Did you ever know howimpossible it was to get rid off the 9 of Diamonds. Lee, ourvery talented magician, kept everyone entertained with magic, card tricks, balloon-bending with everyone in complete suspense for 3 hrs solid.
Thank you to Angela, Simone, and Rebecca for sorting and counting the vouchers.
Great thank you to each and everyone of you who rolled up your sleeves and helped with inevitable clearing and tidying of the Scout Hut. Huge applaud for Julie Porter who looked after all the recycling.
No thank you is complete without thanking Suzanne Burge who will publish this text and the photos on our website.
The final round of applause goes to you OUR COMMUNITY, the 160+ of you who turned up and all the others of you who bought raffle tickets!
