General College Description: Lorain County Community College is located in the city of Elyria in Lorain County, Ohio, which is part of the Northeast Ohio region. Specializing in workforce development and business partnerships, LCCC offers a progressive, diverse educational environment. LCCC is a leader in higher education with more than 16,000 students per semester. Since opening its doors in 1963, LCCC has served more than 300,000 students. LCCC is the only college in the area that offers comprehensive human resource developmentservices, which include employee assessment, certification, and training tools to match job applicants to specific positions through its Entrepreneurship Innovation Institute. LCCC is the first college in the state to build an AdvancedTechnologiesCenter for business and industry. It is a national leader in Six Sigma training and certification and the largest provider of e-learning programs in northern Ohio. LCCC is a member of the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers and has developed innovative partnerships with the Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network (MAGNET), the Northeast Ohio Technology Coalition (NorTech), the National Association of Manufacturers Manufacturing Skills Certification System and the American Welding Society. The NationalCenter for Welding Education and Training is located on the campus. LCCC has also partnered with LorainCounty and the Lorain County Growth Association to develop the Great Lakes Innovation and Development Enterprise (GLIDE) technology incubator. LCCC is the only community college in the state that offers a University Partnership program, which enables people to earn bachelors’ and masters’ degrees from any of eight Ohio universities without leaving the LCCC campus. Faculty Expertise/Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

All LCCC Engineering Technology Faculty members meet the credential requirements of the North Central Association, Higher Learning Commission and have demonstrated industrial experience, professional practice, formal education, and technical currency to support manufacturing programming. In addition, faculty members maintain professional memberships and related certifications in organizations such as SME, AWS, IEEE and ASQC. LCCC trains and develops faculty to contribute fully and effectively throughout their careers through several institutional processes including Individual Work Plans (IWP) and yearly “individual training and development” funds. Faculty members regularly attend trade conferences and support contract training through the NordAdvancedTechnologyCenter.

Nord Advanced Technologies Center is a 50,000-square-foot facility that includes the ManufacturingCenter for Excellence. This center houses Weld-Ed, the Fab Lab, the Wind Turbine program as well as on-site training in CNC machining and programming to computer-integrated manufacturing. Patsie C. Campana, Sr. Engineering and Development Centerrepresents a critical component of Lorain County Community College’s mission to support economic and workforce development for the manufacturing and technology industries in the greater Lorain County region. The facility houses educational programs to help grow talent for new, high growth jobs. Adjacent to the Nord Advanced Technologies Center the Campana Center fosters the development of new partnerships, training and entrepreneurial initiatives created within Lorain County.

Center for Advanced Systems Applications (CASA) is a state-of-the art microsystem innovation center on LCCC’s campus that serves the boundless opportunities of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology. The center supports electronics and sensor packaging across industries through services such as advanced packaging, reliability testing and advanced life simulation, which can predict the life span of a device based on the materials in the design.
