MANHATTAN AREA MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

This annual scholarship is available to any high school senior enrolling at an approved and accredited junior college, college, or university with a declared major in the field of music.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. The applicant must be currently studying with a MAMTA member
  2. Race, color, creed, or gender will not be a factor in determining eligibility for this scholarship.
  3. The applicant must have a distinguished background in the field of music.
  4. The applicant must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  5. Only high school seniors will be considered.

TYPE OF SCHOLARSHIP

  1. An outright grant
  2. Not renewable
  3. Awarded annually if a qualified applicant is selected

AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP

One grant of at least $500 to be paid in two installments, one half for each semester

A. To be paid directly to the school at the beginning of the semester in which the student is enrolled.

B. Applicant must obtain at least a “C” average to be eligible for the second and final grant installment.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications must be received by March 15 of the current year. Please send completed application, three letters of reference, high school transcript (with GPA), and a photo (for publicity purposes only) to: Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, MAMTA scholarship, 555 Poyntz Ave # 269, Manhattan, KS 66502.

HOW CHOSEN

  1. All applications will be forwarded to and reviewed by the MAMTA scholarship committee.
  2. An audition (two pieces) and interview will be scheduled by the committee for each applicant in April of the current year. The scholarship will be awarded to the individual based on eligibility, performance and matching goals with those aligned with MAMTA’s mission. See for more information.
  3. The decision of the scholarship committee will be final and absolute.
