June 10, 2009

The Manasquan PTO meeting was called to order at 7:20pm.

RECORDING SECRETARY – A motion to approve the minutes was made by Co-President, Jill Connolly. 1st Heather Wiseman, 2nd Patti Bossone.

TREASURER’S REPORT – Profit and Loss Report presented.

PRINCIPAL’S STATEMENT -

·  Colleen Graziano thanked the PTO for their support throughout the year.

·  Kristin Wahl, the reading specialist, explained the summer reading program. It will be incentive-based for Grades 1-4. The student can choose any four grade-level appropriate books. If one activity is completed for each of the four books, the student will receive a surprise when they come back to school in September. For Grades 5-8, the program is mandatory. Students must read 2 books and complete an activity for each one. The assignments are due on the 1st day of school. A letter explaining the program, along with a suggested reading list, will be going home with report cards. Information on the reading program can also be found on Kristin’s website (link from the Manasquan Elementary School home page), at the Manasquan library, or at Booktowne.

·  Also discussed were ways to improve the RAPP program; possible evening session?
