Job Summary:
To give vision, set direction and provide leadership for Summit Support (SS)including the formulation and achievement ofthe charity’s philosophy, objectives and strategy.
Developing and growing the organisation through delivery of business plan and developing social enterprise opportunities.
The post holder will grow, manage and support the services delivered by SS. The post holder, working with the Board and team leaders, will identify, shape and prepare development opportunities; taking them from conception to project development and full integration into the SS service delivery model.
The post holder will be responsible for managing the operations of the charity on a day to day basis including all staff and resources (including budgets) within SS. The post holder will be ultimately responsible for the health of the charity and its financial performance.
Key Duties for which Post Holder is Directly Responsible
- In consultation with the Board to develop and communicate a clear vision, mission and values for the organisation
- Develop and oversee the implementation of theagreed strategy
- Manage the business planning process
- Maintain sustainable financial resources and effective human resources management to develop and deliver SS services safely and in a manner commensurate with excellent service delivery and having maximum social impact
- Be the primary ambassador for the organisation and its objectives externally and internally
- Take overall responsibility for the management, administration and running of SS in line with the Board’s policies and within the values of the organisation
- Manage service leads to develop and deliverSS organisational and service strategies
- Provide effective and timely internal and external communications including regular staff meetings and the provision of key messages to stakeholders
- Adhere to SS’s policies and procedures in all work undertaken
Strategic
- Set the strategic operating plans and budgets and manage their delivery through the work of the team leads leading these processes
- Take responsibility for leading and developing stakeholder engagement activities across relevant sectors including commissioners, local authorities, NHS organisations and other charities
- Be entrepreneurial by developing innovative and creative partnerships and business opportunities for SS to develop services and generate income
- Lead the development and successful implementation of an institutional fundraising strategy, with a clear focus on diversifying and expanding SS’s institutional grants portfolio
- Lead the development and delivery of effective and commercially soundclient proposals to increase service delivery, develop new business streams and increasing funding
- Periodically review the SS organisational structure and propose any changes required in the light of the organisation’s strategy and business needs
Governance and Financial
- Work closely with the Chair of the Board to ensure that governance is robust and the Board’s performance is optimised
- Maintaining a highly effective working relationship between the senior team and the Board
- Maintaining an effective information flow to and from the Board to support it in its role, including appropriate presentation and reporting on the progress of the organisation against the strategic and business plans and on all matters relevant to the discharge of its responsibilities
- Develop appropriate policy proposals for Board discussion and decision
Operational
- Developing and maintaining appropriate processes and systems for the management and monitoring of all new services and for the stewardship of the charity
- Manage and support managers in the development and delivery of SHS projects and services
In Addition the Post Holder Will Oversee the Following:
- Development of SS brand, ensuring that it helps to achieve its social mission and supports its commercial and operational health
- Maintaining adequate resources (human, material and financial) for the safe and effective operation of the charity and its services
- Maintaining effective procedures for safeguarding of vulnerable adults who use SS’s services or who are stakeholders of SS
- Oversee the health and safety of the organisation and the assessment and management of risk within it
- Oversee the systematic management of organisational risks and that they are identified, assessed, recorded and tracked appropriately in the organisation’s risk register
- Support the Chair in ensuring the continued engagement/involvement of all members of the Board, as appropriate, monitoring and advising on the composition of the Board, its committees and the process of performance assessment and development
- Lead the shaping and embedding of an organisational culture in which leadership, integrity and responsibility are encouraged and developed at every level of the organisation and where staff and volunteers are confident that their workplace supports equality and diversity. Make sure that the organisation’s values translate into every aspect of SS’s work

Other duties:
- Act as a role model for SS culture, values and ethos
- Recruit, induct, motivate and manage the performance of a highly effective management team, ensuring that they and their teams achieve set objectives and deliver high quality, cost effective services that meet service user needs through regular appraisal and supervision and to encourage and support their professional development
- Maintain effective organisation performance management and reporting mechanisms so that progress towards meeting key requirements, targets and accountabilities is monitored and to enable areas of underperformance to be addressed
