The Virginia Economic Development Partnershipis seeking an experienced economic developmentprofessional to provide leadership, project management, and support the development and implementation of a comprehensive lead generation strategy that successfully generates results to meet VEDP’s performance metrics.
As part of VEDP’s Business Investment division, the Technologies & Services team works with prospective corporate executives, and local and regional economic developers to successfully locate new business operations to Virginia. The team supports VEDP’s lead generation programs by conducting marketing outreach to targeted industries, site selection consultants and commercial real estate brokers, and promotes Virginia as the preferred location for new and expanding business facilities.The Managing Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Technologies & Servicesteam and provide vision to enhance strategies and initiatives thatachieve the Business Investment division’s results for leads generated, leads converted, jobs created and new capital investment.
Candidates must possess considerableeconomic development experience, 10+ years preferred, and executive-level lead generation experience in a corporate business environment or economic development office. The Manager Director must have demonstrated leadership and project management experience, as well as a proven background in developing and implementing targeted industry lead generation plans to effectively identify economic development opportunities and close deals. The Managing Director is expected to demonstrate the ability to manage in a team environment and leverage partners in the public and private sectors, including higher education partners, and local and regional economic development partners. The Managing Director must have excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Applicants must also have strong organizational skills and be able to plan and successfully manage multiple marketing projects. Proficiency in using multiple PC software packages is required. Experience with Salesforce is a plus. Frequent travel is required. A valid driver’s license is required and the candidate must be able to obtain a passport. Undergraduate degree in marketing, business administration or economics or equivalent work experience is required. Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation or other industry certification is a plus. Salary minimum: $85,000.
