MANAGER-SUSTAINABILTY
GURGAON RE-JUVENATION PROJECT
About the Project:While Gurgaon has witnessed exponential growth in the last two decades, the city is also plagued by many serious civic problems. DLF Foundation wishes to take up the role of a catalyst to ensure that relevant stakeholders are brought around to discuss and actively pursue for solutions to problems like water logging, waste management, transport & traffic, healthcare services, safety & security etc. The Program will be a model of convergence of stakeholders to take specific actions towards mitigating the issues faced & problem areas of Gurgaon district. It is proposed to take up a few interventions as showcase models which the govt. or other corporates can consider for scaling up. Media engagement in terms of social campaigns will be done to establish efficient communication and reach within the city and across Delhi-NCR. The aim is to take direct visible action to resuscitate Gurgaon by addressing its ills in the areas of Infrastructure, Environment, Governance and social development.
JOB PURPOSE
- Help formulate and articulate policies, strategies and programmes for rejuvenation of Millennium City, issues relating to Waste Management, Water, Energy, greening, Pollution, governance, roads, Transport, Traffic, safety & Security.
- Engage in dialogue with the local and state governments and RWAs concerning urban development issues including urban planning, urban and municipal management, urban environmental management, and private sector participation in addressing the problems and ills of Gurgaon.
- Lead in identifying, developing, processing, and administering innovative solutions by all stakeholders.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy and Planning
- Support the development of urban sector policy and strategies in consultation and coordination with relevant government agencies and RWA bodies.
- Undertake review of urban development policy, related legal and regulatory framework andassess the progress towards achieving sustainable economic development and povertyreduction in the city.
- Conduct economic, thematic and sector work in the context of sustainable economic
Project Management
- Lead in the development, processing and projects in the urbansector possibly with moderate to high levels of risk and complexity.
- Liaise with and coordinate with development agencies on program loans and investmentprojects.
- Ensure key technical, economic, financial, institutional and crosscutting issues are incorporatedinto projects.
Networking & Policy Advocacy
- Organise various thematic workshops/Seminars/Conferences/Conventions around thematic urban issues in the areas of Waste Management, Water, Energy, Pollution, governance, greening, roads, Public Transport, Traffic, safety & Security etc.
Knowledge Sharing
- Develop and maintain a suitable network in the area of urban development to keep abreast ofthe latest developments and issues.
- Substantially contribute to activities for advocacy, dissemination and knowledge building aroundurban development issues.
- Managing Task Force
- Take the role of mission leader and facilitate the work of mission members comprising Government, RWAs, Industry, Civil Society and Media.
- Coordinate, Facilitate and Manage the performance of partner organisations, providing clear direction and regular monitoring and feedback on performance.
Communication
- Checks the audience’s level of understanding and awareness of required follow up actions.
- Creates knowledge products endorsed for wider distribution based on lessons and multi-City experience
- Independently amends and clarifies messages and documents
- Laying down the direction, strategy and initiatives for PR & Communication. (Eg Print, eMail, Internet based promotion, developing relationships with journalists, articles writing etc).
- Undertake both Offline & Online Campaigns around the Mission.
Education Requirements
- Master's Degree in subject relating to urban management with under graduate degree in Architecture, Engineering or Planning will be preferred.
Relevant Experience
- At least 3-8 years of relevant professional experience in urban development and urban environmental improvement, urban sector development issues, or related area and in project administration and relevant experience in design of multi-sector projects, practical knowledge and experience in integration of financial, economic, social, institutional and safeguard requirements and issues in project design.
- Post Graduates with exposure to analyse complex urban development challenges through a multi-disciplinary approach that addresses sustainable development goals.
- Candidate should have advanced understanding of Sustainable Urban development, planning and management.
- Capacity to examine physical, social, environmental, financial and legal issues linked to infrastructure and services, Real estate sector, policies and programs for cities undergoing redevelopment.
