Responsible for all aspects of management of group (40+ personnel) performing design of wind tunnel and radar cross section models, rapid prototype development (conventional and stereolithography), test planning and execution for off site test facilities, and facility operation at three local test facilities. Group supports all major LM aeronautics programs and related technical development across multiple aircraft programs including F-35 (Joint Strike Fighter), F-22, F-16, and ADP technology programs.

Responsibilities include strategic planning and development, day-to-day task management, staffing, capital improvement, indirect budget development and management, professional development (salary administration, training, review process), and process improvement implementation.

Technical tasks in this field are diverse and rapidly changing, which add significantly to the management challenge. The need to get test data (for many technical functions) as inexpensively and quickly as possible creates many extremely unique process and management opportunities.

Served as LM Aero representative for American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Ground Test Technical Committee (past chair of TC), Arnold Engineering Development Center customer focal point, and various NASA/Industry Review Teams. Currently serve as AIAA Region IV Deputy Director – Technical as part of the Technical Activities Committee.

Currently chair the AIAA sponsored focus group “Wind Tunnel Users Working Group – US Industry” to develop strategic recommendations for sustaining the national wind tunnel infrastructure.

Currently chair the Lockheed Martin Wind Tunnel Focus group.

Invited lecturer for University of Tennessee Space Institute Short Course on Aerospace Test Facilities.

Team lead for section process development, a nine-month special assignment (in addition to normal tasks).

Research and Engineering lead for Integrated Product Teams (IPT) leader training development. Facilitated (jointly) director level engineering team to develop IPT / functional roles and responsibilities charter.

Led team charged with divestiture of wind tunnel at former Convair Division site (San Diego).

Responsible for management of engineering group (32+ personnel) performing multi-faceted support of engineering activities including operation of local test facilities (wind tunnel, water tunnel, thrust stand), management of Flight Sciences department capital acquisition, development of electronic special instruments (design/fabrication/test), and development of special data acquisition equipment for flight test weapons separation analysis.

Managed group through LM site downsizing period of 1990/1991.

Associate Engineer to Lead Engineer, Special Purpose Models

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics - Fort Worth

Engineer in group responsible for all aspects of wind tunnel test development, planning, model design, fabrication, project management, test execution, and post test data reduction. Progressed through the engineering levels with ever increasing responsibilities prior to promotion to Engineering Chief.

Performed F-16 WBS 4100 Element Manager responsibilities including task and budget management for all F-16 wind tunnel related tasks.

Managed all wind tunnel activities on the IDF Program (Republic of China) for five years, including all program consulting and model/test execution. Supported other LM programs including F-16, F-16/J79, F-16XL, ATF, A-12, NASP, Independent and Contracted Research.
