ANNUAL REPORT

MANAGEMENT SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP

TO THE CENTRAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MAY 2010

This year has again been very productive and rewarding and has helped consolidate ideas and development for the future of this committee.

The executive committee has grown in numbers helping usto drive our ambitions and continue promoting the ethos of management. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Dr Deucher and Dr Kalakala and Dr Adamou.

We, as a group, have a clear vision that the relevance of management in our day to day work is paramount. The skill of management and leading remains essential at all stages of training and personal development and we have encouraged psychiatrist and trainees to be more active in their local and regional divisions.

The main achievement this year has been the release of two Newsletters which has been widely circulated marketing and highlighting various interesting articles related to management and its sciences.

The feedback we have received from participants has been very encouraging. Dr D Chaudhry, our editor, remains committed to continue the same in the future.

Dr Kalakala has taken on the role as a web page editor and has incorporated useful links and articles relevant for future development. He promises to make this a useful resource and we expect being updated on a very regular basis. It is hoped that future materials would be relevant to all individuals and not necessarily members only.

More recently the MSIG has been working with the RoyalCollegewith a committee headed by Dr Frank Holloway in providing a report and resource information booklet for doctors interested in management in non-managerial posts.

This year the MSIG hasagain remained keen in developing workshops and seminars. However, due to anticipated changes or mergers with groups and parties interested in management within the College, this event has been postponed.

In the end, on behalf of the whole executive committee I would like to thank Officers of the College and every member and individual who has supported and encouraged us throughout this time.

Dr Venkat Chetan Reddy Majjiga

Chair of the Management of Psychiatry (SIG)
