NOTE TO MEMBERS & EXHIBITORS:

  • Please note that all prize money not already handed out with prize tickets, will be paid out from the Secretary’s Office, Pavilion (upstairs). Please present your prize vouchers with Entry Form or Personal ID when collecting prize money
  • Horse Back Numbers: Refunds will be made from the Secretary’s Office during the day.
  • Roecombe Road: Will be closed for parking. It will be classed as an additional entrance to the Show and the usual admission charge will be levied.
  • Entry pass awarded to Exhibitor where the fee is $10 or more.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

The Association abides by the Royal Agricultural Association of NZ rules and regulations. For all rules in their entirety please visit A copy of the 21 pages of rules will be available from the Secretary’s Office on show day but have been abbreviated below to save space for printing purposes. Any enquiries, please contact The Secretary.

ENTRIES:

Close 5.00 pm Friday 24 February 2012 (late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Secretary)

Entries should be in the hands of the Secretary, 7 Rupert Street, Waddington/Sheffield 7500 by the above date. Entries for Flowers, Forage Crops and Vegetables may be made on Show Day. All entries must be made in writing and accompanied by entry fees. Late entries may not appear in the catalogue.

LIVESTOCK CLASSES:

Each exhibit must have been the bona fide property of exhibitor for not less than one month prior the Show except in the case of imported stock.

To save congestion at measuring pen, a current Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Show or Royal Agricultural Show or Life Certificate will be accepted from exhibitors in all horse classes where height is stipulated.

Refund of Entry Fees in the Horse Section: The Association will credit 80% of entries only on production of Veterinary Certificate or presentation of a Medical Certificate for the rider. The request for refunds must be in the hands of the Secretary within 7 days of the date of the Show.

In respect of District Classes, the District is defined by the former Malvern County Boundaries, and exhibitors in these classes must permanently reside in the for Malvern County area.

HORSE SECTION:

Please note that there are changes and alterations in this Section. The former “MalvernCounty” has been further defined by Roads and additional information with regard to the wearing of helmets as regulated by the Royal Agricultural Society has also been included. Please read these regulations carefully since non compliance may render your entry as invalid.

This show supports the RAS “Yellow Card” system, which will be offered for any inappropriate behaviour towards Show Officials, Judges, Fellow Competitors or any other third party connected with the Show. Implementation of the “Yellow Card” will be in accordance of the RAS Rules that accompanied this card, and full wording of the “Yellow Card” system is available to view on the RAS Website.

SEEDS, GRAIN, ROOTS & VEGETABLES:

In Sections 8, 9, 10 and 11 all entries must be the bona fide property of, and grown by, exhibitor for the current season.

OUTDOOR/INDOOR PRODUCE:

All entrants to uplift exhibits by 4.30pm on Show Day and should such produce not be removed by that time, it shall be deemed to belong to the Association, who shall dispose of it at their discretion.

EXHIBITS:

Must be in their appointed places before 9.30am (unless stated otherwise by individual Sections), on the morning of the Show.

No exhibits of any description will allowed to be removed from the Show grounds until 4.00pm on day of Show without the permission of the Committee or Secretary.

Persons desirous of exhibiting goods for which there are no classes in the Catalogue may, subject to the approval of the Committee, obtain sites on the ground on the payment of a small premium.

Persons in charge of exhibits will be admitted free upon producing an Exhibitor’s Pass, and they shall be subject to the orders of the Committee or its Officers.

In cases where non-members exhibitor’s entry fees amount to a minimum of $10.00, such exhibitors will be entitled to an ExhibitorsPass. Members: Exhibitor Passes shall be issued at the discretion of the Committee.

Should an exhibitor, in the opinion of the Committee, be guilty of any fraudulent or unfair practice, or any deceit or concealment in entering or exhibiting stock or any other, or exhibit diseased or infected stock, all the exhibits of such an exhibitor shall be disqualified, and his/her name shall not appear in the official prize list.

Should any exhibitor infringe any of these conditions and regulations or refuse to comply with the direction of the Committee, the Committee shall have power to suspend such person or firm from exhibiting at any exhibition during such period as they may think fit.

Should any person or firms be disqualified or suspended by a kindred Association registered under the Agricultural and Pastoral Societies Act, 1908. The Committee of the Association shall have power to endorse suchdisqualifications or suspension and suspend such person or firm accordingly.

ENTRY FEE FOR SPECIAL PRIZES:

Are the same as those in Classes to which such Prizes relate or are otherwise specified.

LIABILITY:

The Committee will not, under any circumstances, hold themselves responsible for loss, damage, or mis-delivery of exhibits of any description, whether exhibited at the Show or during transit to or from same.

Parking is entirely at the owner’s own risk. The Association’s policy is that due care has been taken to protect property and grounds, however the Association will not be held liable to any person in case of loss, theft, injury or damage by reason of any defect, accident, negligence or neglect howsoever arising.

PRIZE MONEY:

In the event of the funds at the disposal of the committee proving insufficient (owing to unforeseen circumstances) to pay all the prizes in full, the committee reserves the right to withhold such a percentage as maybe necessary

All prizes not claimed within two weeks after the Show Date shall be forfeited.

The Committee reserves the right to substitute trophies in lieu of cash prizes should any offers of same come to hand after having the Schedule printed.

RETURN OF TROPHIES:

Where applicable to all classes, trophies from the 2012 show must be returned to the Secretary’s office on Show Day 2013

by 9.30am or by prior arrangement with the Secretary.

PROTESTS:

These must be lodged with the Secretary in writing not later than one hour after the Judges have given their decisions. The party entering the protest must deposit $25.00, which will be returned if the protest is upheld. The Committee will meet on the day of the Show to consider all protests, five members to form a quorum. The decision of the Committee for the time being in office shall be absolutely final in all cases.

  • Champion points will not be awarded where there is no competition. Competition shall mean two or more exhibits.
  • In the event of a tie, e.g. 1st equal, the points for 1st and 2nd place are added together and divided; likewise, points for 2nd and 3rd are divided in a 2nd equal placing.
  • In cases where entries are made in the names of different members of one family, this must be clearly marked, e.g. – AB Jones Family and this will go into the Malvern Mounted Riffles family competition. All entries made individually will go into the Johnson Family Salver competition.
  • Where 2 persons tie in the number of points for a trophy, the number of first placings shall decide the winner, but at the discretion of the Committee.
  • In respect of District Classes, the District is defined by the former Malvern County Boundaries, and exhibitors in these classes must permanently reside in the for MalvernCounty area.
  • The Malvern A&P Show will be held under RAS rules.
