MAKING THE MOST OF THE

PARTNERS IN MISSION RESOURCES!

The 2016 Partners in Mission resource package is a blend of familiar and new material. Take time to review the DVD prior to the start of your campaign, sharing with your local leaders items that might be particularly useful for the groups in which they have leadership responsibility.

Here are a few ideas to use as ‘starters’:

General Audience:

Begin the Partners in Mission campaign with the short “Introductory”video that introduces this unique territory which includes ten countries (Panama, Costa Rica, Cuba, Venezuela, Guatemala, Colombia, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua). Although The Salvation Army began in 1904 in Panama, 1907 in Costa Rica and in 1918 in Cuba, The Salvation Army remains small in numbers in most of the countries, with the age of officers, Salvationists and adherents being young, reflective of the demography of this region. It is inspiring to see ministry led by the youth of the corps.

Many of the countries of the Latin America North Territory are tourist destinations. This may be one way to increase interest as you invite the congregation to bring out their souvenirs and share any stories of their holiday experiences.

Also included on the DVD is the “Happy” video which premiered at the Boundless Congress in July 2015. This video highlights an international Salvation Army in joyful service. The “Happy” video could be shown during morning worship, and at children’s or youth programs. It also invites your own congregation or young people to participate by ‘dancing’ to the music!

The resource section of the DVD includes PowerPoint-ready pictures, bulletin cover and inserts, growth chart, offering can label and much more!

Sermon and Bible Study Group Resources

Majors John and Brenda Murray have prepared a helpful Bible Study based on Psalm 121, weaving in stories of their experience at IHQ. Major Clarence Ingram shares an inspiring sermon that relates to his current experience in the Caribbean Territory.

Reflection on Vulnerability

This year we invited the Project Officer of the South America East Territory to prepare a reflection for youth. Claudia Franchetti shares a story on vulnerability, a concern we can so readily identify with, young or old.

If you are interested in using this reflection within a Women’s Ministry group you may want to check out the TED Talk Youtube video of Brene Brown as she speaks on the Power of Vulnerability. Brene Brown is a researcher/writer and through the years has become a follower of Jesus.

Available March 1st on saworldmissions.ca…
