Reporting to:Maintenance Manager and through him to Head of Estates & Operations

Job Purpose:To lead in all building fabric related duties including planned preventative and reactive maintenance, duties involving: - carpentry, minor construction works (inc. roofing), lock suiting and associated security access hardware.
You will also be working alongside other maintenance engineers in dealing with all building and Estates issues to include electrical and mechanical duties and repairs.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To lead in all building fabric related maintenance issues and tasks
- Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on a variety of different building both internally and externally
- To assist in the cost effective procurement of maintenance spares and materials along with consultation with external bodies on current market sources
- To undertake general multi-disciplined maintenance duties to a high standard using appropriate tools, equipment and machinery
- Liaising and working alongside Contract companies and suppliers to ensure quality of service and compliance to Health & Safety procedures.
- Responsible for the upkeep of areas such as plant rooms and workshops
- To ensure that all working practices are carried out to Health and Safety regulations
- To assist with the upkeep and presentation of College vehicle fleet
- To undertake regular driving both on and off site including pupil transport
- To assist when required in the planning and facilitation of college events and external lets.
- Be flexible and prepared to support works and emergencies outside of normal working hours
- To deputise for Maintenance Manager during absence
- To undertake any other duties as requested by your Line Manager

PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLEQualifications / City and Guilds or NVQ equivalent in a building fabric discipline relevant to building services / Additional NVQ`s relevant to building services inc. electrical and mechanical disciplines
IOSH certification
Skills and Experience / Previous commercial maintenance experience within a large and varied Estate or school environment.
Working knowledge of Health and Safety practices and procedures
Working at Height qualifications i.e. MEWP licence, scaffold/tower training, steps and ladder use training
Good working and installation practices
Computer literate / Building/construction experience internal and external
Knowledge of COSHH and risk assessment
Experience of swimming pool management & maintenance
Behavioural Skills / Ability to lead and mentor others
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to work on own initiative
Good customer care skills
Ability to work alongside and manage contracted engineers / Smart appearance, presentable
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Special Circumstances / Clean Full Driving Licence / Work in occupied buildings
