1. JOB TITLE: Centre Fundraising Manager – Cardiff

REPORTS TO: Head of Centre Fundraising, England & Wales

PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION: N/A

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

LIAISES WITH: Internally: Directly with the Fundraising and Development Director, Head of Major Gifts, Head of Leadership Giving and Head of Trusts and Partnerships, the Fundraising Team in England and Wales, Maggie’s Executive; staff in operations, events, communications, Centre Heads and Centre teams

Externally: Key Stakeholders, Key volunteers including board Chairs and members, etc.

PAY BAND: 7

BASE: Local Centre with extensive travel throughout surrounding area and where necessary throughout the UK, including the London Office

2. JOB SUMMARY

The post holder will be directly responsible for raising income across the region, and across Wales where appropriate, through the development and implementation of a Centre specific plan and contribution to the England and Wales wide fundraising proposition, case and strategy.

The post holder will manage, support and motivate the Cardiff Board and work closely with programme staff and senior volunteers. They will have oversight and responsibility for effectively and autonomously managing the full portfolio of activity relating to the Centre but also able to manage complex networks and relationships which have a Wales wide focus.

This will be in collaboration with wider Maggie’s fundraising team members where appropriate. The post holder will be responsible for fundraising across range of income streams and working with local supporters including businesses, individuals, community groups, volunteers and media contacts to raise awareness and vital funds.

In addition they will oversee a Centre Fundraising Organiser and the effective and efficient administration process required to ensure accurate and comprehensive data capture, banking and thanking of donors and volunteers.

3. KEY RESULT AREAS

KRA 1. Primary job requirements:

1.  To have full oversight and responsibility of the Cardiff portfolio and an understanding of priority activities

2.  To provide exceptional and professional support to the Board Chair and Board members in Cardiff

3.  To assist the Chair of the Board in running and resourcing the Board meetings

4.  Ensuring a pipeline of fundraising activity is built for the medium and long term.

5.  Ensuring the implementation of Maggie’s donor care policy and a high level of stewardship.

6.  Responsibility for developing Maggie’s fundraising plan in Wales in conjunction with the Head of Centre Fundraising, England & Wales and Fundraising and Development Director. Identifying and developing new business leads sufficient to meet target in line with Maggie’s fundraising strategy and maximising Maggie’s network of existing senior level contacts.

7.  Preparing and delivering innovative proposals for funding to potential and existing partners

8.  Responsibility for account management and direction of a portfolio of existing corporate relationships and networks, in line with Maggie’s corporate fundraising strategy.

KRA 2. Research and Development Activity

1.  Develop an ongoing programme of research and development that will identify new donors and partners and new fundraising opportunities and products.

2.  Working across the organisation, identify potential leads from Maggie’s networks and through co-ordinated working be proactive about facilitating an approach for funding.

KRA3: Communications and Cross-Organisational working

9.  To brief and prepare as necessary senior staff or key volunteers in relation to partnerships and networking / engagement events.

10. Responsible for ensuring the implementation of Maggie’s donor care policy. To work across other Fundraising and organisational teams (Major Giving, Trusts, Communications, Programme, Property, Events and Partnerships) to ensure effective collaboration and support for wider organisational objectives.

KRA 4. Finance and Policy Development:

11. To contribute to the development for fundraising policy as required by the Fundraising and Development Director.

12. Responsibility for monitoring and reporting back against fundraising targets, including producing monthly reports, variance and reforecasts.

13. Input into the production of the annual and 5-year strategic plan, including income and expenditure budgets, for fundraising in accordance with Maggie’s five-year strategic objectives.

14. Responsibility for maintenance of data and records relevant to fundraising at Maggie’s.

KRA 5. Management and Human Resources:

15. To manage and support the Cardiff fundraising team and ensure that Cardiff integrates well with all Maggie’s team resources

16. To manage, support and motivate the Cardiff Board

17. To run regular planning meetings with appropriate colleagues, ensuring a co-ordinated, integrated and joined up approach.

18. To engage, brief and prepare senior staff or key volunteers where appropriate.

KRA 6. Information Technology.

19. To ensure the effective management and utilisation of Maggie’s database, IT, and supporting systems.

20. Work within data protection legislation in force with relation to Maggie’s information and communications systems and in general

Centre Fundraising Manager - Cardiff

Essential / Desirable / Proven by
Training and qualifications / A minimum of three years fundraising experience including community and corporate areas.
Track record of securing substantial donations from donors and corporate organisations. / Educated to degree level.
Post graduate training and qualifications relevant to the post.
Membership of institute of Fundraising / CV, references and certificates
Experience / Experience of managing and delivering income generation in fundraising environment.
Evidence of a high level of ability to meet targets and work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment while managing a wide range of staff, external relationships, activities and volunteers at one time.
Proven experience of new business acquisition whilst managing a portfolio of accounts to meet contractual obligations and income targets, within a fixed budget.
Evidence of being able to motivate and inspire stakeholders to raise funds for Maggie’s / Experience of cross-team and cross-organisational working, / CV interview and references
Knowledge and Skills / Able to maximise opportunities within partnerships to enhance PR, targets, always looking to maximise a partnership for mutual benefit.
Persuasive communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire people.
Excellent IT skills
Excellent written and verbal communication – from pitching to agencies, partners and writing business plans.
Proven strategic planning skills. A self-starter with strong team-working skills. / Good sector knowledge and awareness of the CSR agenda and how it is relevant to Maggie’s.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to remain focused within a dynamic environment.
