MADELEINE MILBURN LITERARY, TV & FILM AGENCY

Madeleine Milburn Agency - Australian Writers’ Prize

We are thrilled to open entries for our Australian Writers’ Prize. A world-renowned literary agency based in the heart of Mayfair, London, we represent a dynamic and award-winning list of international authors published globally. Our agency offers the highest level of care to a boutique list of authors, working together editorially and developing their work across all media. We’re keen to extend our reach, finding fresh new talent with an international appeal, right from the other side of the world.

We want to find a great unpublished Australian writer who can grip us with an original voice, great storytelling, vivid characters and a unique premise. The prize is open for adult fiction in all genres or that which blends genres – the only thing we ask is that you are an unpublished Australian writer without representation. If you’re writing non-fiction, do enter our non-fiction competition.

PRIZE

The top three entries will be selected by the Madeleine Milburn agency for the shortlist. A winner will be chosen by Madeleine Milburn and they will receive an offer of representation by the agency. All three shortlisted entries will receive a comprehensive editorial report from the agency.

If you are offered representation by another agency while the prize is running, please let us know and we will withdraw your entry.

ELIGIBILITY

To enter, you must be un-agented and the work submitted must be unpublished (work from which an extract has been published in a literary magazine is fine). The prize is open to writers who are Australian, or are living in Australia and the work must be written in English.

HOW TO ENTER

Entries are now open and the closing date is 19th May 2017. The shortlist and winner will be announced on 1st August. We will be assessing each entry as and when it comes in.

We ask for a pitch letter including a brief author bio with contact details, a one-page synopsis, and a full manuscript to be submitted (or a minimum of 30,000 words if the novel is nearing completion).

To find out what we are looking for and for more tips on your writing and submission, please see our team and news pages on our website, and when you’re ready to enter submit your manuscript to
