Macromolecule Poster Project

Objectives:

  • List the four groups of organic macromolecules (carbon chemistry)
  • Explain the function of each group of organic macromolecules
  • Identify the monomers and polymers of each group of organic macromolecules
  • Identify and illustrate examples of each group of organic macromolecules

Procedure:

  1. You will create a poster that will illustrate and explain the four groups of macromolecules: carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids.
  2. You will begin by dividing a large piece of poster board into four equal sections (one section for each category of macromolecule).
  3. Label each section of the poster with the name of each category of macromolecule.
  4. Go to the USDA website and use the food guide pyramid in your poster

Use your notes, book, and the USDA website abovefor information. This project will be put in as a LAB grade. The picture examples can be illustrated, cut from magazines, or from the internet. All writing should be your own.

Use the following as a checklist to insure that you have included all the necessary information for each category of macromolecule. Each section of the poster board needs to include the following items…
