Id, Ego, Superego Analysis: Put on your Freudian thinking caps and analyze the personalities of the characters in Macbeth, diagnosing them as either Id, Ego, or Superego. For each character, you must write a thorough analysis of his/her personality, using specific textual support to back up your diagnosis. (10 points)

Comic Strip of the Banquet Scene: Create a comic strip portrayal of Act III Scene iv, The Banquet Scene. This can either be a comical interpretation, or dramatic. However, remember what a comic strip looks like! A comic strip takes the bare essentials of a situation and dramatizes them. Therefore, you must break down the Banquet Scene to its important elements. You DO NOT have to be an excellent cartoonist to complete this activity, however, I would like to see a thoughtful depiction done here! FYI: There are programs on the internet that can help you create a comic strip! (10 points)

Discussion Questions: In complete sentence, thoughtfully answer the following Discussion Questions (10 points)

Character Journals: You may do up to THREE character journals. Choose a character from the play (please choose a significant character, not a non-sense character, like a servant) and write a journal entry from the perspective of that character. Choose an event, such as the murder of King Duncan, and have your character react to the event. What would your character say? What would he/she think? How would he/she respond to this event? You can write this in Shakespearean English or Contemporary English, the choice is yours. (5 points each)

Visual Interpretation of Imagery: Shakespeare masterfully utilizes the art of imagery throughout the course of the play. Some images we focused on were blood, the contrast between dark and light, and nature. Using your artistic abilities, come up with a visual interpretation of these images. Your interpretation should show how and why Shakespeare uses these images. This is a CREATIVE assignment, therefore the way you present this assignment is up to you. However, you must make sure that your interpretation captures the essence of the image and its significance in relation to the play. (10 points)

Quote Analysis: Choose up to TWO quotes from the following list. You must identify the speaker of the quote, paraphrase the quote, and explain the significance of the quote in relation to the play. This must be a thoughtful analysis of the quote in order to receive all the points. (5 points each)

Dramatic Performance of a Soliloquy: Choosing from the list of soliloquies, choose on soliloquy that you would like to present to the class. You must memorize the majority of the soliloquy and perform the soliloquy to the class. Your performance must capture the emotions of that character during the time the soliloquy appears in the play. (25 points)

Act III as the Climax: In a thoughtful 5-8-sentence paragraph, discuss how Act III is the climax of Macbeth. What events transpire in Act III that cause a change in events and lead to the ultimate resolution of the plot. Your paragraph MUST contain textual support (at least ONE direct quote) to support your reasoning. (10 points)

Crossword Puzzle: Using a crossword puzzle generator (available online), create a crossword puzzle for Macbeth. You may use character’s names, plot elements, Shakespearean terms, etc. as clues for the puzzle. Pretty much anything related to Shakespeare and Macbeth is fair game! You MUST include an answer key for your crossword puzzle. (10 points)

Macbeth Collage: Create a collage that incorporates all things Macbeth. Focus on the themes in Macbeth, images, characters, and plot elements, which will tell the story of Macbeth through picture, words, etc. If you choose this option, at least HALF of your collage should be handmade images, pictures, words, props, etc. Therefore, the majority of your board SHOULD NOT BE computer generated! Use your CREATIVITY!! (30 points)
