I. Welcome and Role Call / Barbara Jacobs welcomed the participants. She did a roll call of the hospitals and organizations at today’s meeting. Various members announced their organization’s achievements and awards since the last meeting. AccuVein, Inc., JACO, Inc. and Wolters Kluwer Health sponsored the meeting.

Guest Speaker / Barbara Jacobs announced that all members present at today’s meeting were given index cards or pads of paper at their table. Barbara asked the group to respond to 5 questions. #1 Should the time of the MONE meetings be changed to morning, afternoon or to alternating morning and afternoon meetings? #2 Do you have an interest in running for a MONE Board position in the 2015 election? #3 Does your organization participate in the Nurse Residency Collaborative? #4 If yes, who is your organization’s representative to the Nurse Residency Collaborative? #5 List topic ideas for the November 2015 educational program for the MONE Meeting.
Alison Burrows reported our current membership as 174 members. Our goal is 200 members. MONE may get a Facebook account soon. Contact Alison if you are interested in helping with this committee. Members should go online to Inquisit by January 25, 2015 to receive their MONE contact hour certificate for today’s educational session.
Jesus Cepero stated that the April 28, 2015 meeting will be the annual EBP Research Poster presentation. The September 24th Meeting will be on “Population Health” with MHA and MHEI. The November 19th meeting topic will be determined based on the members’ survey results from today’s meeting.
Eugenia Powell and Christine Bish are the co-chairs of the MONE Nurse Manager Consortium. Members in Maryland and Washington, D.C. can attend the program if their hospital is a member of the consortium. Each hospital member of the consortium can send 4 to 8 members per session. The CNO of each hospital needs to sign a contract to join the consortium.
C.J. Marbley stated our total assets as of 12/31/14 are $178,394.14. The report will be filed for audit.
Mary Ann Greene is the coordinator for the Nurse Residency Program in Maryland. MONE supports nurse leaders to support a standardized nurse residency program in Maryland. Data is needed for new graduates who maintain their jobs for the first year after their nurse residency program. MONE is the lead organization for the Program. So far, 17 hospitals are active in the Program. Maryland hospitals in the collaborative have 1,202 new graduate RNs in 2014. So far, 71 RNs have resigned from their positions. Therefore, Maryland’s retention rate is 94.1%. The national retention rate from UHC is 94%.
The topic for today’s meeting was, “Status of Maryland’s Health Care Transformation” The speaker was Carmela Coyle, President and CEO, Maryland Hospital Association.
