LUNCHROOM MURDER GRADING GUIDELINES

Criteria for A work:

□ Uses at least 5 pieces of evidence

□ Arrives at the “right” answer and explains everything else in the scene

□ Has some element of creative or original thinking

□ Has clear warrants in place

□ Thorough explanations

Criteria for B work:

□ Uses at least 5 pieces of evidence

□ Arrives at the “right” answer and attempt to answer other parts (with a few parts not

accounted for)

□ Has clear warrants in piece (with room for a few that are missing or incorrectly

formatted)

□ Explanations are a bit underdeveloped

Criteria for B- or C+ work:

□ Uses at least 5 pieces of evidence

□ Arrives at an illogical answer, but offers thorough explanation

□ Shows some inconsistency with warrants, but clearly understands what they are and how they function and provides many of them to develop ideas

□ Generally explanations are thoroughly developed….just illogical

Criteria for C work:

□ Gets everything correct but uses less than 5 pieces of evidence

OR

□ Does NOT get everything right and uses 5 pieces of evidence, AND:

o  Arrives at illogical answer, but attempts to offer some explanation

o  Shows a need for more warrants, but does include a few and shows s/he has basic understanding of what they are and how they work

o  Might be underdeveloped…needs more unpacking

Criteria for D work:

□ Uses less than 5 pieces of evidence

□ Incorrect conclusion

□ Extremely underdeveloped explanations—lacking warrants
