Please Note: Many of following entries denote kinsmen who were exiled to America bearing convictions, bonds and other labels which “People of Quality” would certainly regard as shameful. To these genteel and hypocritical souls, I can only say...NUTS! Some of these men were branded “Vagrants, Brigands and Nonconformists” for such dastardly crimes as failing to worship exactly as did those in power. Some of the women labeled as “prostitutes” suffered conviction because after their homes were burned and their families murdered, they were unable to demonstrate any visible means of support to the benevolent Crown Officials who had ordered the deeds done. Crown Justice has often been a very unique point of view and treason is almost never spoken of in the first person. Many of them arrived without resources, without references and apparently without reservations-of any sort. I am pleased they are my kin.
