8th Grade Health

Dear Parents:

In recent years the term “health” has acquired a much greater significance. It no longer means simply the absence of sickness, but refers to well-being of the body, the mind, and relationships among people. Everyday students are confronted with important decisions about how to maintain wellness, and they need to be well informed so that they can make the best decisions. Over the next 12 weeks I will be teaching your child principles of healthy lifestyle choices using the text, Teen Health, as a reference.

I firmly believe that parents are the most important motivators in their children’s lives. With your support and encouragement, I feel certain the Health curriculum will become interesting to your child this year and that we can help prepare him/her to make responsible decisions to reduce their risks in life. Assignments and information regarding current topics and handouts will be posted on my website throughout the trimester at If you have any questions feel free to call the school office at 610-395-8593 anytime you have anything to discuss with me and I’ll return your call as soon as possible. I can also be reached via email at .

It is part of the students’ homework to have you read and sign the attached curriculum overview. This overview contains a synopsis of the semester’s coursework, assessments, and class rules. Thank you for you support and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Amy Wikert
