Lower Dauphin High School
CASA students have the opportunity to take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Lower Dauphin High School. This test is only offered one time per year, always in October. We are fortunate to be invited to test at Lower Dauphin, because our school will not be a testing site this year.
The three and one-half hour version of the (shortened) SAT I, the PSAT/NMSQT measures verbal and mathematical abilities important for success in college. The PSAT/NMSQT is recommended for use by secondary schools in guiding students who plan to continue their education after high school and by juniors seeking recognition and financial assistance through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
It is highly recommended that juniors who are planning to go to college take the PSAT/NMSQT. Students who took the PSAT as sophomores are strongly encouraged to take the PSAT as juniors because only junior year scores are used to qualify for National Merit Scholarships.
A fee of $20 paid by cash, check or money order must be returned no later than 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 to Mrs. Baker. Please make the check or money order payable to: Lower Dauphin School District.
Students should report to the high school lobby on October 18, 2014 by 8:00 a.m. Please bring (2) number 2 pencils with you to the test. Remember, calculators are permitted for the PSAT/NMSQT.
Parents and students are invited to attend the PSAT score night on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lower Dauphin High School auditorium to receive an explanation of PSAT scores and important college information.
