April showers have brought May flowers. With cold and rainy days behind us, it’s time to start thinking of getting dogs back into shape and nothing says that more than … EXERCISE OUTSIDE – a good walk, your dog needs it!
Lack of activity is a fact of modern life for canines as much as humans. Nature designed us both for constant activity but we no longer toil for hours tilling the soil by hand. Dinner waits for us in the microwave, while our companion dogs no longer spend the day running down wild animals; food magically appears in their bowls.
Unfortunately, the lack of physical effort not only leaves us, and our canine friends, less able to handle stresses of life, it also creates an overwhelming number of afflictions such as: adult onset of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, back ailment, and osteoporosis are often not just bad breaks. Fortunately, these and many other ailments can often be averted by regular exercise.
Canine metabolism is geared for vigorous activity, and all this pent up energy demands an outlet. Yet, today, few dogs have even the benefit of a yard for running; and most are indoors all day long, with some crate trained as a reliable method of housebreaking and instilling good habits. And while this restricts their freedom, lack of exercise also brings on boredom, which brings about behavioural problems that many pet parents are often heard complaining about.
Loving Paws & House Sitting is perfectly prepared to act as the responsible dog caregiver to help channel your companion’s energy constructively through regular walks during the week.
A half-hour walk per day, at least three times per week, is plenty of time for a good workout and for meaningful health benefits. Exercise also leads to: longer life, increased strength and endurance; lower bills from the veterinarian; and a much happier dog… dogs are social creatures, so time and attention spent with them exercising is as much a need for them as food and water.

After being in business for 18 months, a better understanding of your needs and the desire to always improve led to these updates. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our new Ts & Cs. We understand that it's not the most exciting read but we feel it is important that you are aware of how we are working to improve how we manage the delivery of our services.
