  4. Entry Fees : Members £10.00 and Non Members £12.00
  5. Please note NO DOGS ALLOWEDwhatsoever, this is a specific request from venue owners, please respect their wishes.
  6. This show is open to both Riding Club members and non RC members aged 18+ (see rule 7)
  7. First Aid and Toilets and Catering on site.
  8. Warm-up and Tests all on prepared surfaces.

Rules for Dressage Shows 2014

Please read these rules carefully

Health & Safety Rules

  1. Lothians Riding Club, the organising committee, the owners of the show ground or any agent acting on their behalf cannot be held responsible or accept any liability for loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to horses, ponies, riders, owners, grooms, ground spectators or any other persons or property whatsoever.
  2. The organisers of this event have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions toavoid accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organiser and all officials and stewards.
  3. All riders when riding, whether competing or not, must wear hard hats, with strap properly adjusted and fastened and only the following specifications are acceptable at any BRC competition
    i) BSEN 1384 (1997 or 2012), EN 1384 (1996) PAS015 (1998 or 2011) and must have BSI Kite mark
    ii) ASTM F1163 (2004a or 04a) and must have SEI Mark
    iii) SNELL E2001 and must have official SNELL label and number
    iv) AS/NZS 3838 (2006) and must have SAI global mark
    Any rider found to be using a hat to a lower standard will be disqualified.
  4. Body Protectors are not mandatory, however if you wish to wear one, we suggestthat body protectors should be a BETA Level 3 (purple label) which has been manufactured in the year 2000 or after.
  5. Riders must wear correct footwear and be smartly dressed and if possible wear a smart jacket.
  6. Riders who fall off during the competition must be deemed fit to continue riding and if they wish to do so they do it entirely at their own risk.
  7. All riders must be 18 years and over. Be a member of a Riding Club (not necessarily LRC) or hold your own 3rd Party insurance cover.18 year olds must provide proof of age if required.
  8. All horses/ponies to be 4 years and over
  9. Cantering allowed ONLY in the practice and competition areas
  10. Horses and Riders MUST REMOVE ANY RUGS BEFORE THEY ENTER THE ARENA. Lothian’s Riding Club officials are not responsible for removing rugs from horses entering the arena.

Additional Rules

  1. Lothian’s Riding Club members will receive league table points. Points allocated from 1stto 6th place.

Dressage Points will only be awarded for the first two classes members enter. To qualify for Points your Membership must be fully paid up in advance of any show, those who rejoin or join at a show are not able to qualify for the points at that show.

  1. Entry for all classes must be made in advance no field entries available.Entry fees only refunded if the show is cancelled or the classes are full. Lothians Riding Club reserves the right to cancel a show if insufficient pre-entries are received.
  2. Lothian’s Riding Club reserves the right to refuse entries. Classes will not be held up to wait for competitors arriving late or who are not ready to compete at the correct time.
  3. Riders competing in the first class are not eligible to compete in classes 4 or 5 (unless on a different horse).
  4. In view of fairness please do not enter classes competitively that you are not eligible for, HC entries are acceptable. HC Entries do not qualify for members points.
  5. The Judges decision is final. Any complaints to be made in writing to the secretary and accompanied by £20. The complaint must be made within one hour of the incidence.
  6. BHS Riding Club Rules apply to the show.
  7. Please take your rubbish home with you and leave the venue tidy.
  8. Please check the website for updates, particularly for any decisions made due to bad weather including venue changes.
