Matthew Persinger is a machinist and veteran of the U.S. Army, currently working toward an Associate’s Degree in Business Management at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College. After earning his GED, at sixteen years of age, he enrolled in college classes for machine technology. He has worked in various areas of manufacturing for almost twenty years, several of those years in leadership positions. He took a break from machining and enlisted in the U.S. Army from 2001-2004 as an infantryman. Although born and raised in the state of Washington, he remained on the East Coast after leaving the army and returned to work as a machinist. Matthew and his family settled in Mathias, West Virginia in 2011.

Work History:
The majority of Matthew Persinger’s jobs have been in the machining industry and have involved the production of metal or plastic parts using both manual and computerized machines. Several of his machining jobs have also involved being a team leader or shift foreman. His non-machining jobs include his time in the U.S. Army and a couple months spent working on a lookout tower in Oregon for the Forest Service.

Matthew Persinger enjoys outdoor sports and activities, especially activities he can do with his family. Some of his favorites are hiking, hunting for mushrooms, and fishing. He is also an avid runner and has participated in two half-marathons.
