We’ve trained more than 1.9 million entrepreneurs and helped them start and grow almost 1.9 million businesses, providing more than US $420 million in loans. Our entrepreneurs have transformed 10.5 million lives for the better.

Hand in Hand International is based on Baker Street in central London. Our 14 UK staff work in close collaboration with our partners in the international Hand in Hand network. Hand in Hand International provides strategic advice and program support to implementing Hand in Hand offices. We are also responsible for raising funds to help finance the work of the network, for negotiating agreements with donors and for monitoring and reporting back on performance and results.

We are now looking for an IT volunteer to work on a file sharing projectduring July-September 2017. Your key tasks will be to identify problems and issues with the existing system and make recommendations for improvements. The main output will be a requirement specification for an improved file sharing system, a recommendation for an off-the shelf solution and how it would be integrated into our systems.

Duties and responsibilities

Conduct interviews with staff to ascertain issues and problems with the existing file sharing system and what the needs are.

Based on findings, write a requirement specification for asuitable off the shelf file sharing system which can be found in the market. The best off-the-shelf solution should then be presented to our IT company for implementation.

Measurable outputs and performance indicators:

Produce a requirement specification and recommendations for an off the shelf file sharing system for Hand in Hand International.

Skills and knowledge

Knowledge:

IT background and project management experience.

Experience of managing external suppliers would be ideal.

Skills and personal qualifications:

Able to translate technical terms into plain English

Able to work independently with minimal guidance.

Knowledge of file sharing systems ideal
