LUGGAGE

Two bags will be required, a larger one which will go into the bus boot in Shetland and remain there until arrival in London, and a smaller one to take as an overnight bag on the boat (include toiletries, nightwear, etc. in the overnight bag).

SAFETY

It goes without saying that pupils must listen carefully to all instructions and carry them out, especially when on the boat, crossing roads, in crowded city centres etc. Pupils will be divided into groups. Risk Assessments have been completed for the trip and Alton Towers has their own risk assessment policies that can be viewed online.

EMERGENCY CONTACTS

Staff will have mobile phones. Anyone wishing to get in touch should contact Robert on 07747111220, Julie on07585447535, Mark on 07919076082or school on 01595745050.

MOBILE PHONES, CAMERAS, IPODS AND COMPUTER GAMES

Pupil can take mobile phones, Ipods and computer games but PLEASE NOTE WE CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE EXPENSIVE PIECES OF EQIPMENT. PUPILS BRING THESE ITEMS AT THEIR OWN RISK.

POCKET MONEY

Pupils will be responsible for their own spending money. As secondary pupils we would expect them to take care of their money and have a suitable wallet/purse to keep their money in. It is up to parents as to how much spending money your child takes. Following some discussion it was thought that up to £150 seems an appropriate amount, however we appreciate that if pupils intend to buy some ‘big’ items they may need slightly more as that.

MAIN ITEMS TO TAKE

Waterproof jacket

Comfortable waterproof shoes - not new!

Toilet accessories in suitable bag

Small rucksack or bag for daily use (especially for Alton Towers Day)

Purse/Wallet

Underwear and socks for each day

Nightwear

MEDICATION

The school should be informed if any pupil is currently on a prescription or taking medication. Prescriptions should be given to staff along with clear instructions. Please remind us of food allergies etc. It is better to send any medication you think your child my need as we can’t give anything without consent. You will receive medical forms at the Parents’ Evening for completion.

PARENTS’ EVENINGS

A Parents’ Evening will be held in the school prior to the trip. This will be an opportunity for you to complete any remaining paperwork and to ask questions regarding any concerns you may have. The Parents’ Evening will be held on Monday 26th Sept at 6.30pm.We would also like all pupils coming on the trip to attend this meeting.
