ABB is launching a new design of the existing PSF 315M Welding Torch, (Q3, 2005)

The PSF 315M has been included in the ABB product portfolio for many years. This welding torch is developed for robot welding in thin plate welding applications.

Change of design

Our product responsible sub-supplier has made changes to improve the basic design of the PSF 315M torch and hose assembly. ABB have together with the supplier secured that the new design is 100% compatible with the old design, regarding all important main functions and dimensions to maintain following compatibility with the old design:

- Same TCP and 25º torch neck bend

- Same Euro wire feed connection

- Same Torch body connection v.s. existing standard torch bracket design

Basic design and benefits

- Self-cooling - a less complicated design, which does not need a separate water cooling system.

- Precision bent torch neck unit - enabling replacement of the torch with minimum modification of the robot program. The torch neck is bent to an angle of 25º with a maximum dimensional deviation of ± 0.2 mm between the point of the contact tip and the control hole in the attachment body.

- The spatter protector in the nozzle insulates the torch neck and prevents spatter from penetrating into, or sticking onto the gas nozzle.

Hose bundle and benefits

- The welding hose casing has been improved for long life durability with extra resistance to abrasion, resists wear and repels spatter.

- A central gas supply in large ducts is unaffected by severe bending or twisting of the welding hose.

- The liners are extra rigid and are available in teflon, plastic or steel. They are also available in a comprehensive range, one for each wire size. This ensures a reliable feed even when using “difficult” welding wires.

- All hose bundles are delivered complete and prepared for ABB wire feed units to ensure quick and easy installation.

Standard EURO-connection

The standard PSF 315M hose bundles are equipped with a EURO-connection to the wire feeder, a well proven

standard for ABB process equipment.
