Background

Currently there is a nationwide shortage of Type 1 and 2 Logistics Section Chiefs. The Logistics Accelerated Development (LAD) Program was developed to help alleviate this shortage. This program will be operated in conjunction with the Logistics Academy.

Work in the Logistics Section is extremely challenging and gratifying work. Many opportunities abound for assignments and details with other agencies such as the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Program Goals

The goal of the program is to give trainees comprehensive on the job training assignments at an accelerated rate to meet the prerequisite qualifications of the Logistics Section Chief – Type 2 (LSC2) as contained in FSH 5109.17 (Facilities Unit Leader and Supply Unit Leader or Ground Support Unit Leader.

LAD Program Operations

25 to 30 Logistics Section trainees will be selected. Trainee availability will be tracked by the Contract/Logistics Specialist. The CLS will then place name request through the respective GACC to order the trainees. A Mentor may be assigned as needed.
