  • Looking to be more actioned focus, more working party type of focus for 2018.
  • First meeting for 2018 will be a facilitator type session, looking at goals for 2018.
  • At has stepped down as chair after 2 years.
  • EB has put forward her nomination for Chair.
  • Combined voice, representing a large number of agencies from a big region and we need to use this more.
  • Big changes in the sector, more competitive space.
  • Still need to be collaborative and work in our consumer’s best interest and what is best practice.

4.2 / Care Coordination Panel
  • Meeting for the 5th December was cancelled as only one referral received and a number of people on leave.
  • Referral circulated for out of session comments.
  • If you wish to be included in the email list for these Panels please email

4.3 / GSJMHC website –
  • If you have any events or daily activities you wish to advertise please email
  • Recent glitch with being able to send out our Newsletter but we are working on a solution
  • GS discussed Spot on Health with chill be a pathway for GP’s and Allied Health staff to access information on what services are available.
  • Funded by MS HHS, exciting space.
  • A number of mental health pages still being updated.
  • Will be good for Physical health resources.
  • MS HHS will maintain and update content.
  • CW has linked with Logan City Council newsletter and will pass on any information and events to be advertised there also.

4.4 / NDIS update – What is your agency doing in response to NDIS
  • TO recently was involved with the Ipswich roll out.
  • Learning from being involved in the roll out.
  • Broadening scop of staff and organisation processes.
  • Agencies were not being advised when plans have been put in place e.g. providing services and then finding out plan has been in place for 2 months.
  • Resistance from people re completing paperwork.
  • Reviewing of plans can take from 2 days to months, no consistency.
  • Evidence collecting has been difficult
  • Agencies are working together if providing different services although also a competitive environment.
  • New services – registered providers – more just in it for the money, not consumer care.
  • Capacity – what is capacity under NDIS
  • NDIA website has a list of what services agencies are providing.
  • Most agencies are registered for everything, so it may not be a good reference.
  • Duplication of services, previously agencies have known who provides what and refer to each other for specific programs
  • How do we do this in the future?
  • Concerns for the people who will not qualify for NDIS, what services will be available for them?
  • No long term plans need clarity of what will be funded and by whom.
  • Rebecca Fitzgerald will be returning to the SIC role in January and Kate O’Keefe will be continuing until the end of June to assist with NDIS roll out.
/ Action for Steering Committee- mapping of which agency provides what service
4.5 / Brisbane Mental health Expo – MH Week
  • Amazing, good job by organising committee, fantastic, great space and location
  • KT was chair for the working group.
  • Venue provided access to tourists, and general public.
  • Could have gone for a longer period.
  • Formal feedback is being reviewed and will be provided when available.
Thrive by the Bay
  • Small community atmosphere
  • De- emphasised the organisation aspect, BBQ, meeting the community.
  • Good stories shared, informal and more connection focused.
