LOCATION:This is a Pan Gwent post with an Office Base at Newport Mind. The post holder will be expected to travel to, and work from, various locations across Gwent such as local Mind association offices, Community Venues and Colleges.

PURPOSEOFPOST:

To work to ensure the sustainability of Newport Mind’s five year Big Lottery Bright New Futures funded Changing Minds Projectbeyond the end of the grant funding in November 2018 and to develop an ongoing legacy for the project across Gwent.

  1. To networkand liaise with key partners to identify and secure continuation funding for the Changing Minds project.
  2. To actively promote and publicise the project to stakeholders including funders, commissioners, referring agencies and individuals.
  3. To coordinate, support and implement a campaign to save the project in partnership and collaboration with young people.
  4. To collate in an accessible form the resources, materials, training and information produced by the project to provide a legacy for the Project, for Newport Mind and for the Young People of Gwent.
  5. To develop new Children and Young people funding applications in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer, the Team Manager and the Business Development and Income Generation Manager.
  6. To work closely with young people to ensure they are engaged, involved and influence the development of the project and their voice is central to the provision of mental health services.

PRINCIPALRESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide opportunities and support for young people to share their experiences of Changing Minds and their own mental health. Ensure that the project, its external influencing activities and campaigns are informed and shaped by the experiences and needs of young people.
  1. Ensure that the project achieves its maximum potential for sustainability by co-ordinating the following:
  1. Create and deliver a 12 month campaign strategy to secure continuation of the Changing Minds project.
  2. Communicate and Liaise with key stakeholders to promote the project and increase opportunities for further funding.
  3. Work closely with the Changing Minds Team and Business Development and Income Generation Manager to discover, develop and create new funding bids to support continuation funding.
  4. To collate in an accessible form the resources, materials, training and information produced by the project to provide a legacy for the Project.
  1. Ensure all work including programmes, training, interventions and support to individuals, groups and organisations are effectively recorded and preserved to facilitate future planning.
  1. Ensure that equality and diversity are central to the delivery of the project and to the personal working practices of all project volunteers to proactively address disadvantage, inequalities, stigma and discrimination making sure that active steps are taken to reach beneficiaries from marginalised or disadvantaged groups.
  1. Work in accordance with best practice, legal requirements, the policies of Newport Mind, and policies proscribed by the funders.
  1. Work closely with statutory bodies so that the project can achieve its potential for future sustainability and ensure that in the event funding is not secured young people know where to access mental health services.
  1. Ensure that the project links in and adds value to appropriate local, regional and national plans, strategies or initiatives.
  1. Produce and deliver presentations, workshops and training at conferences and other events to influence key stakeholders on policy development and funding opportunities to support the sustainability of the project.
  1. Contribute to the production of an annual report, evaluation reports and other publicity material about the project to distribute and publicise to key stakeholders, local, regional and national forums
  1. Share minute taking of meetings, in liaison with other project and Newport Mind staff.
  1. Work imaginatively with students, volunteers, community members and people accessing services to campaign and raise the profile of the Changing Minds Project
  1. Support project workers to manage their waiting lists and ensure that all young people waiting for a service get the help and support they need. This may be in the form of signposting, referral onwards or in the delivery of 1:1 support.

  1. To attend and positively contribute to Newport Mind, Mind in Gwent, Project Advisory Board, Young People Expert Panel and other relevant meetings in agreement with the Bright New Futures Changing Minds Project Manager
  1. To attend and positively contribute to Newport Mind, Minds in Gwent and relevant training as required.
  1. To actively contribute to a positive, supportive and constructive working ethos, relationships and environment with Newport Mind, partner organisations and other organisations.
  1. To contribute to making Newport Mind a greener workplace.
  1. To support and contribute to our overall aim of the participation people with experience of mental health problems Mind andto be committed to working alongside people with experience of mental health problems, as colleagues, (paid & unpaid) experts and campaigners.
  1. To travel to meetings and conferences in connection with the project including some occasional overnight stays in agreement with the Bright New Futures Changing Minds Project Manager.
  1. To be flexible, adaptable and undertake other work that supports the aims of Newport Mind, the aims of the project and the aims of Mind.

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. Experience
  1. Experience of working with young people on participatory, co-produced initiatives.
  1. Experience of promoting, campaigning or project funding
  1. Experience of providing direct support to young people with mental health problems particularly around life transitions
  1. Experience of report writing and producing high quality documents for a variety of audiences
  1. Experience of implementing and integrating evaluation and monitoring systems and frameworks into working practice.
  1. Experience of working in and developing collaborative projects or partnerships to achieve objectives in line with plans.
  1. Experience of working successfully with a diverse range of stakeholders in the delivery of a service across organisational boundaries and interests to achieve outcomes.
