  1. Instruction
  2. Principal Jackson revisited the Saturday tutorial schedule. The Saturday tutors areMr. Martinez, Ms. Robinson, Ms. Morato, Ms. Whyte, Mr. Begazo, Ms. Araujo, Mr. Morales, and Ms. Vega.
  3. In response to the UIL question, Principal Jackson stated that Ms. Campos is the sponsor for our speech contestants. In addition, Principal Jackson stated that the Light House will be responsible for the other UIL competitions: Rainbow Challenge, Spelling Bee, and Fine Arts.
  1. School Events
  2. Principal Jackson solicited input from the committee on how we can increase attendance forSchool Choice event at Sterling HS. It was suggested that a pizza party be given to the class with the highest number of participants.
  3. The committee approved a measure to host a Middle School Magnet exhibition to inform our scholars ofthe many choices they have for a wide variety of programs at different middle schools. To date, the following middles have shown interest: Baylor, Williams, and Key MS.
  4. Science Fair will be held January 14. NASA tutorswill assist our scholars every Monday up to the fair.

  2. Principal Jackson stated that he met with the budget manager. He further stated that all negative accrued from 2015 have been resolved. Principal Jackson further stated that he received approval to fill the following part-time positions: Hourly teacher, Hourly lecturer, and full time Teacher Assistant. Principal Jackson further stated that we finalized the selections before we adjourn for winter break.
  3. Principal Jackson requested the net gain/loss for the PTO fall fundraiser.
  4. Ms. Soria stated that PTO would donate $100 for Gregg’s MLK Oratory competition champion; $25 for the other participants.
  1. Staffing:
  2. Principal Jacksoninformed the committee that the bilingual kindergarten candidate did not complete the paperwork required by HR. He further stated that he will continue our search for the best candidate to serve our scholars.
  3. Principal Jackson stated that Lisa McNeill would serve as our part-time Hourly Teacher to provide support for Science and Math. He added that Mr. David G. Jackson would be hired to provide additional support in all content areas as well.
  1. Safety and Security:
  1. Committee expressed concerns about parking when we are hosting professional development trainings. Principal Jackson stated that we would open the enclosed area adjacent to the pavilion to accommodate additional vehicles.
  2. Committee expressed concerns about rodents in the yellow wing. Principal Jackson stated that we would submit an extermination request as soon as possible to address the issue.
