DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Within delegated authority, the Nurses at this level will be responsible for the following:
•Work in the walk-in clinic & the nursing facility.
•Respond to emergency calls and assist doctors in providing adequate care and performing respective duties in the
treatment of the patient.
•Perform ECG, and other medical exam such as blood tests, glucose, troponine, and urine test as required.
•Prepare patient for different intervention and escort patient to other medical facilities as required.
•Administers appropriate Vaccines
•Assess needs of clients visiting the walk-in clinic; provide care/advice (e.g. the benefits of preventive medicine, etc).
•Shift duties including nights and week-ends
•Perform nursing care and generally all activities related to her professional capacity.
•Responsible for emergency room and doctor’s consultation rooms, insure that all equipment are ready for use and
functional e.g. Defibrilator, ECG machine, glucometer, etc.
•Receives patients and records the necessary data for effective treatment.
•Ensures safety of the patients in performance of duty.
•Communicate with patients and updates the doctors in the clinic.
•Maintains patient records and exercises confidentiality.
•Accords patients fair and equal treatment regardless of ethnic background
•Assist in providing health education and addressing work environment and occupational health issues;
•Actively contribute in planning and organizing preventive and promotive medical fairs.
•Perform other related duties as required.
Work implies frequent interaction with the following:
•UNMIK HCC patient
•Staff at large; staff within work section;
•Physicians and nurses outside UNMIK.
•Contractors for laundry, hazard waste and Medical equipment maintenance company .
•Visitors

•Provision of quality nursing services that contribute to the good physical and mental health of the staff of UNMIK..
COMPETENCIES
•Professionalism- Knowledge and hands on experience in clinical (ICU & Emergency) nursing.
•Planning and organizing- ability to establish priorities and plan, co-ordinate and monitor own work plan.
•Teamwork- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural,
multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect diversity.
•Communication- Good interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
•Commitment to continuous learning- Willingness to learn to keep abreast of new developments in nursing field
•Technological awareness- Solid computer skills
For Managerial Positions:
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: at least 6 years experience in the application of nursing skill. Experience in the ER and Travel medicine is a requirement, experience with UN or International health facility is highly desirable
Education: Diploma in nursing is required. Certification in Advanced Cardiac life Support and in ECG is highly desirable plus technical interview.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English; knowledge of Albanian and Serbian language an asset.

While this temporary assignment will provide the successful applicant with an ideal opportunity to gain new work experience, the selection for this position is for a limited period and has no bearing on the future incumbency of the post.

Internal candidates for this purpose is defined as staff members currently serving under 100 series appointment who have been recruited after a competitive examination under staff rule 104.15 or after the advice of a Secretariat joint body under staff rule 104.14. External applicants may be considered when it is not possible to identify suitable internal candidates of the same department/office.

Please note that external candidates are generally not entitled to be appointed at the advertised level of this temporary vacancy and will therefore be graded in accordance with the current recruitment guidelines. This means that the grade may be at a lower level than that of the advertised level of the post.
