Access

The office has step-free access, an accessible lift and toilets.

Walking

From Monument Metro station (about 5 minutes)

Take the exit for Northumberland Street. Walk along Blackett Street for 80m or so, before turning left onto Northumberland Street. Continue up Northumberland Street. After about 100 metres, turn right onto Saville Row. At the end of Saville Row, cross John Dobson Street (2 pelican crossings) onto Durant Road. Continue straight ahead, across College Street. The entrance to MEA House is signed on the right hand side. Pass under the bridge and cross the road to access the main entrance.

From Newcastle Central Station (about 15 minutes)

Exit the station from the main front entrance (opposite Thistle Hotel). Turn right and walk along Neville Street for 50m. Cross over onto Grainger Street and head north along Grainger Street for 1km. When you reach Grey’s Monument, turn right and continue along Blackett Street. After 80m or so, turn left onto Northumberland Street. Continue up Northumberland Street. After about 100 metres, turn right onto Saville Row. At the end of Saville Row, cross John Dobson Street (2 pelican crossings) onto Durant Road. Continue straight ahead, across College Street. The entrance to MEA House is signed on the right hand side. Pass under the bridge and cross the road to access the main entrance.

From Grainger Town multi-story car park (about 20 minutes)

Exit onto St James’ Boulevard and turn right. Walk north along St James’ Boulevard for about 400m. Turn right onto Gallowgate and continue for 100m. Cross St Andrew’s Street and continue along Gallowgate for 175m. Cross Newgate Street and after 250m continue onto Blackett Street. Grey’s Monument will be on your right. After 80m or so, turn left onto Northumberland Street. Continue up Northumberland Street. After about 100 metres, turn right onto Saville Row. At the end of Saville Row, cross John Dobson Street (2 pelican crossings) onto Durant Road. Continue straight ahead, across College Street. The entrance to MEA House is signed on the right hand side. Pass under the bridge and cross the road to access the main entrance.

Cycle parking

Cycle parking is available outside the front entrance of MEA House to the right of the main entrance. Bicycles are left at their owner’s risk.

Buses

The nearest accessible bus stops to the office are located at Monument Market Street or Haymarket John Dobson Street.

  • Route 1 (Stagecoach) goes via Newcastle Central Station, drop off at Haymarket John Dobson Street
  • Route 22 (Stagecoach) goes via Newcastle Central Station, drop off at Monument Market Street.

Please be aware that the bus stops may not have seating facilities or shelter.

Drop off point

There is space to set down passengers outside the front of MEA House. However, the spaces are for disabled users only so waiting is not permitted.
