Education Plan Program Outline
All materials for the building education plans should be collected in abinder or folder.
1.0PROGRAM OUTLINE, EDUCATION PLAN REQUIREMENTS AND DEVELOPMENT
Discuss program goals with organization; benefits to building, tenants and staff;program requirements. Buildings and staff leaders selected.
1.1Joint Session 1: Kick-off meeting.
-Living Green Education Program agenda, background, expectations;
-Examples from Network 2011 pilot program; Community Based Social Marketing
-Why it is necessary to survey staff and tenant; and set specific goals
-How to establish education criteria through on-site surveys;
-Discuss tips for conducting surveys with tenants and what the most effective strategies for surveying will be – meetings, mailings, one-on-one interviews
1.2On-site surveys @ buildings
-Building information survey; building systems, utility payment process, etc.
-Staff surveys; leaderto coordinate individual questionnaires or in a group.
-Staff leader collects and reviewsthe surveys
-Tenant survey: Consider best options; community meeting, mailbox, individual
-Prioritize findings; discuss with staff, tenants and Network
1.3Network Site visit:
-Review survey responses and help structure education outline & plan
-Identify programming type (community meetings, special group, coordination with existing activity, general timeframe & scheduling)
-Discusseducation goals and evaluation criteria
-Review possible materials for education planning:
- Power Points
- Lesson Plans
- Materials suggestions (drip meter, shower timer, etc.)
- Flyers for training announcements
- Course Sign-in sheets
- Certificates or suggestions for rewards
1.4Program preparation

-Identify education goals: specific habits and behavior to address
-Consider connection between sessions – overarching themes
-Set Education Plan schedule: dates, time and lesson topics
-Invite guests; Agency staff, Con Edison, community members
-Look at similar Lesson Plan agendas and modify as needed
-Determine information and materials that will beneeded
-Consider the most effective outreach method – to get the most tenants engaged
-Incentives: What will be most effective (food, money, recognition, awards)
-Recognition: how to best acknowledge participation
1.5Joint Session 2: Program EducationLeaders convene at Network offices.(September/October)
-Share lesson plans/templates
-Discuss findingsaboutprogramming strategies
-Challenges
-Surprises
-Ideas for evaluations
2.0PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION
-Tenant meetings (3-4meetings per building)
-Baseline questions. What do tenants know?
-Keep sign-in sheets
-Collect all materials and notes in binder or folder
-Include other staff and administration as much as possible; particularly Property Management and Facilities
-Make it fun and entertaining!
3.0Program Debrief and Evaluations
-Will be convened with agency staff and Network within two months after education sessions are complete
-Questionnaires for staff review
-Post-program surveys; evaluations
-Agenda and assistance for post-program planning to maintain continuity
3.1Program evaluations
-Templates for program evaluations should be related to initial tenant survey
-Evaluation approaches; may take longer timeframe – consider program outcomes
-Collect power points/materials; get permission to use them in the future or post them on the website. Post in-house, bulletin boards, newsletters, etc.
3.2.1Education and Engagement Continuity
-Establish outline for ongoing programming, activities or information
4.0PROGRAM REPORT AND DISSEMINATION:
4.1Individual Program write-ups
-Each building will complete questionnaire about the program experience
-Submit binder/notebook/notes/examples to Network
4.2Project Report: Network
4.3Website posting: Network website. Information is also available for Building/Agency to distribute, post and use internally
