Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air…

Ralph Waldo EmersonUS essayist & poet (1803 - 1882)

Emerson Families,

Ah what I would give to be a kid again! As spring brings color and warmth into the outdoors, spring also reminds us all to reflect upon the 2010-2011 school year to celebrate your child’s progress in and out of school. As a parent of twin sophomores, I am frequently reminded of the years that have gone by and years quickly approaching where my own little eaglets will soon leave the nest. Seems like yesterday that Istruggled as a parent to have one of my twins learn to tie their shoe or learn to read or acquire all math facts by 4thgrade or memorize the states or to be a good friend……

Take time to hug, talk and laugh with your child and continuously celebrate what they

can do as you coach them to learn and practice newtasks. They may not remember what you have done for them but your child will surely remember how you (we) made them feel……..

At Emerson, our staff continue to strive to make everyday a day where all students, families and community members feel welcomed and at home in our fine community school.

Together as a community, we “Soar high with Emerson pride” and keep our school’s focus to recognize “Every child an honored student.”

I am truly proud and love being part of the Emerson community!

Karen Kepler

Stars of the Week

Each week you will see a new group of Emerson Stars of the Week displayed in the showcase at the top of the stairs as you enter our school. This includes a photograph of each Star and a brief description of why the student was chosen. Stars are acknowledged by classroom and specials teachersbased on a variety of criteria including academic performance, good citizenship, positive attitude, cooperation with others and leadership. On Mondays during morning announcements, Mrs. Kepler reads the Star information so the entire school can celebrate every one of our shining Emerson Stars of the Week.

Past “Stars of the Week” are on display in the school cafeteria. All stars of the week will be distributed at the end of the school year for you to display your “stars” in your very own home
