Composiciones:
Students will write three essays during the course (in Spanish) on the assigned topics. They are to be hand written in the blue book and should be at least 200 words in the rough draft. They will be written in class on the dates on the calendar.
After each essay is turned in errors will be circled. Students will then re-write it, making corrections and expanding through out the essay to at least 250 words, then resubmit it for grading.
Grading Criteria: five points for each
1. Content and organization3. Grammar and verb usage
2. Complexity of vocabulary4. Corrections and expansion
If you are absent for the final draft your rough draft will then be graded. If you have no rough draft your only draft will be graded however you will receive zero points for “corrections and expansion”.
Examenes:
There will be 4 tests. Tests will include listening comprehension, writing,
grammar and reading. Each test is cumulative. Speakingability will be evaluated throughout

DISABILITY STATEMENT
Students who have emergency medical information I should know of, or who might need special arrangements in the event of evacuation, or students with documented disabilities who have special needs, should inform me no later than the first week of the term. If additional assistance is required, please contact the LBCC Office of Disability Services at 917-4789.
INTEGRITY STATEMENT
Be advised that all the assignments must have been written by you. Using a computer to translate your work is considered cheating, using someone else to do your work is considered cheating. Any kind of academic dishonesty is unacceptable.
STATEMENT OF INCLUSION
The LBCC community is enriched by diversity. Everyone has the right to think, learn, and work together in an environment of respect, tolerance, and goodwill. I actively support this right regardless of race, creed, color, personal opinion, gender, sexual orientation, or any of the countless other ways in which we are diverse. (related to Board Policy #1015)
Tip for Success
* Being fully prepared for each class is the only way to succeed in Spanish !!!
* You must study AND practice! A lot of time is needed to learn a new language! One hour daily PLUS completing homework, compositions and studying for tests is the bare minimum needed. SMALL blocks of time work great!
* Expect to struggle speaking and understanding Spanish. Practice, practice, and more practice will solve this frustration. Now is the time to have conversations with yourself !! Use the textbook’s online resources.
* Plan to succeed if you put in the time and effort!
* Preparedness, respect and encouragement are key elements to having fun in class as well as learning Spanish.
