Personal Learning Co-ordinator

ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Line Manager: Personal Learning Co-ordinator Manager

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To establish individual student programmes which maximise learning, independence and wellbeing and prepare students to contribute fully to adult life.

You will work with students to design individual programmes and create and deliver personal development. You will ensure effective transition both into and out of the college and quality assure the learning experience.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. You will co-ordinate and be responsible for learning programmes and support for students.
  1. You will carry out assessments and work with students and other stakeholders to establish effective transisition into and out of college.
  1. You will organise and negotiate with other professionals to ensure student requirements are being met and train and motivate staff across the college to recognise, engage in and record learning.
  1. You will ensure achievable and realistic learning targets are set across the curriculum including Personal Development, recognising progress through the RARPA framework and modelling or delivering learning where appropriate.
  1. You will provide pastoral support (referring on when necessary), ensuring that programmes promote respect and autonomy and supporting students to make decisions and determine their future lifestyle.
  1. You will quality assure the planning, development and learning process through self-assessment, student tracking/observation, student and stakeholder feedback and regular student meetings.

7.Promote National Star’s Health and Safety at Work policy and procedures and ensure these are implemented effectively within the department.

8Through personal example, and clear action demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity ensuring equality of access and treatment in employment and service delivery to all.

9.To undertake such other duties as may from time to time be determined by the Director of Learning Programmes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION – Personal Learning Co-ordinator
Attribute / Essential / Desirable
Experience /
  • Experience of teaching or delivering learning
  • Experience of working with people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
/
  • Experience of working with people with profound and multiple learning difficulties
  • Familiarity of residential and supported living environments.
  • Awareness of strategies for promoting autonomy
  • Experience of liaison with a range of agencies/working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Involvement in producing reports.
  • Knowledge of and experience of using RARPA framework.

Qualifications /
  • Relevant level 3 or 4 qualification
  • Possess a full teaching qualification at Diploma level, or undertake this once in post

  • Qualification in relevant associated discipline such as Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing etc.

Skills /
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Able to assess and monitor learning, record progress and achievement.
  • Able to communicate effectively
  • Ability to write concisely and have the ability to summarise information.
  • Able to support and direct other staff.
  • Good time management.
