Sermon Title: Transformed Series Review

Sermon Series: Transformed

Sermon Text: 1 Peter 2:9-12

Open

●  Why is transformation important in the context of our faith?

●  In today’s sermon we reviewed what a transformed life in Jesus Christ looks like. Have you seen any transformations take place in your life since we began this series?

●  Here is a breakdown of the “foundational elements” of our new faith in Jesus:

○  Transformed by the Resurrection; God’s Will for You; Your View of the World; Seeking God’s Direction; Worship; Bible; Community; Healthy Relationships; What does the Lord Require; Overflowing Gratitude

●  Of these, which one/s sticks out to you the most? Which of these do you struggle with the most? Which of these are you the strongest in?

Dig

●  Read together Philippians 3: 14-16

●  What is Paul’s testimony to those who live a transformed life?

●  How do Paul’s words impact the way we live our lives today?

●  Read together 1 Peter 2: 9-12

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

●  According to Peter, what is now different of the people than from who they were before?

●  According to Peter, why does transformation happen? Do transformed believers live new lives for a purpose? How might a transformed life help them towards that purpose?

●  “Live such good lives among the pagans.” - What does Peter mean by this and is this something that still has relevance today?

●  The last video that was shown this morning was of the lives that are being transformed in Eastern Europe. How does this story hit you? What is taking place there that is transforming lives?

○  Can the same thing happen here?

Reflect

●  Towards the end of the lesson, Rusty and Payton provided a “Dashboard of Life” for us to take home. Looking over that breakdown of the sermon series, what lights are popping up on your dashboard?

○  What steps are you taking today to fix the problem?

●  Pray with the group that God will provide courage and opportunity for us to live Transformed lives in Jesus Christ.
