RULES AND INFORMATION

GENERAL

  1. The Competition will be held under ASA Laws & Regulations & ASA Technical Rules of Racing and ASA Open Meet Licensing Criteria
  2. All swimmers must be ASA members but can be Category 1 or Category 2 members.
  3. The pool length is 25 metres, 8 lanes, with Omega electronic timing. The depth of the shallow end is 1 metre. The depth of the pool of the deep end is 1.8 metre.
  4. It is the responsibility of coaches to ensure that swimmers are competent to the standard of the ASA Competitive Start Award. Swimmers in 50m events that do not have a competitive start in line with ASA will start in the water, as the starting end is only 1.0m. 25m events will start at the deep end and finish in the shallow end. Swimmers may start in the water but must inform the referee before the start of the race.

ENTRIES

  1. All entries are £2.50 per event.
  2. Applications for entry and payment must be received by the published closing date. It is the swimmers /parent or guardian's responsibility to ensure the name used for entry into the meet is as registered with the ASA.
  3. Entry times for events will be taken from the club computer and seeding approved by the coaches.

AGE GROUPS

  1. Age groups are based on the swimmer’s age on the 31st December 2017.
  2. The age groups are 8 & under, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 & over.

THE COMPETITION

  1. Age group winners will be on a timed final basis.
  2. All events will be seeded on submitted times for at least the last three heats. The promoter reserves the right to modify the seeding arrangements should conditions demand.
  3. Over the top starts will be used at the referee’s discretion.

AWARDS

  1. There will be awards for the top three boys/girls in each stroke in each age group.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  1. Teamipswich Swimming accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property and requests that all persons remove their belongings if they leave the premises at any time. Any lost property not claimed from the announcer at the end of the competition will be handed to Crown Pool Management for collection by the owner.
  2. In accordance with the ASA Child Safeguarding policies and procedures, any parents or carers of swimmers under the age of 18 who wish to take photographic or video images are requested to focus on their own child as much as possible and to avoid including other children in those images, particularly if those images are being shared with family and friends through social media platforms. Should you have any concerns about photography or filming at this event then please bring them to the attention of the promoter. This rule applies to the use of mobile phones, tablets or image capturing devices as well as cameras.
  3. Competitors must be suitably dressed and with the appropriate footwear whilst on poolside. No exterior footwear is allowed on poolside unless exclusively used for the purpose of poolside shoes. Swimmers are not allowed elsewhere in the building or in the spectator area with wet swimwear.
  4. Entries to the meet will be held on a computer and consent, as required by the Data Protection Act 1998 to the holding of personal information on computer, will be deemed to have been given by the submission of the entry. Personal data will be available for inspection during the Meet on application to the Promoter.
  5. Spectators, officials and competitors are asked to familiarise themselves with the location of all emergency exits and must abide by any rules laid down by the venue management.
  6. By submitting an entry, competitors are agreeing to be bound by these rules.
  7. The promoters reserve the right to refuse admission to any person.
  8. Results will be available on the Club website at as soon as possible after the meet.
  9. Spectators will be charged an admission fee on the day.
  10. Any matter not covered by these conditions will be determined by the Promoter and Referee, subject to ASA Laws, Regulations and the ASA Technical Rules of Racing.
