IMPORTANTIn order to be eligible for this training, you must be a registeredmental health professional (hold at least aPost-Graduate Degree in Child and Adolescent Mental Health)and be working in an agency which already has a commitment to utilizing PCIT i.e clinic set up with transmitting device.

WHATPCIT is an evidence-based, short-term, family-behavioural therapy designed to support parents and their young children (2-7yrs) who have severe behavioural difficulties, or where there are extreme difficulties with parenting e.g

History of physical abuse, neglect etc. PCIT is designed to improve parent-child relationships and to reduce difficult child behaviours (such as non-compliance, aggressiveness, tantrums, and oppositionality). PCIT is a very active therapy, where parent and child are seen together in live play interactions, during which the parent is coached by the PCIT practitioner (using a transmitting device). PCIT is a mastery based therapy where the child and parent must master certain skills before they can progress to the next phase of treatment.
