Letter to Willie Alice Mills (Maiden name Parker) (Copied by Melanie Beard on 2/23/03)

Feb 25, 1968

Dear Willie Alice:

I love doing genealogy. It stimulates the most interesting correspondence from the nicest and most interesting people.

It was good hearing from you.

I don’t know if I can help you very much. After my husband died, it lessened my interest and I have not done much research sinc. However, I shall send you what I have gathered which might give you clues on which (way-inserted) to go.

Hope it will help.

Sincerely yours

L. Evelyn E. Googe

P.S.

Let me know what you find and perhaps together we might get more. I have not found any “Lees” among the Lovetts perhaps it is on the Rackley or Marion’s mothers line. I don’t even know what Marion’s mothers name was.

(back of page)

Oh! Marion and I are about 5th cousins. Cousin Amanda’s father and my great grandfather were brothers that made my grandfather Alex Lovett and your grandfather Crawford first cousins, my mother and marion were second cousins; you and I are 3rd cousins. That is closer than I knew!

Bye

E.G.

**John Forbes Lovett son of Thomas Fenns & Rebecca Lovett and wife Elizabeth (?) in the 1850 census reads:

John F. Lovett 56 1894

Elizabeth 36 1814

Joseph 16 1834

Martha 13 1837

Crawford 8 1842

Amanda 6 1844

**Brother of Augustus L.L. Lovett my great grandfather.

Ask your Uncle Gray about these people. He should remember his mother’s brother’s and sisters. This is the only family in which I find an Amanda, and presuming her to be about the age of my grandmother Lucy Lovett this would be the right family.

There is another John Forbes and Elizabeth bates but no Amanda listed with them.

I do not find them after 1850 census. I presume they had all married and started their own family’s by then. The father died the following January after the census were taken. The mother might have remarried. I don’t know.
