SEPTEMBER 2013

Dear resident/business operator,

Extension of the northbound bus lane on Condamine Street

between Sloane Crescent and Fishbourne Road, North Manly

Roads and Maritime Services sought community feedback about a proposal to improve the efficiency of northbound buses on Condamine Street at North Manlyin the afternoon peak. Community comment was generally supportive. As a result Roads and Maritime is proceeding with building a northbound bus lane on the section of Condamine Street, North Manly, between Sloane Crescent and Fishbourne Road.

Buses driving through this area experience delays and cause congestion at the Kentwell Road intersection. The changes aim to improve the reliability of bus services between Sydney CBD and the northern beaches and reduce traffic delays for all vehicles. Please refer to the map overleaf for details.

The work will be carried out across several months fromSunday 29 September 2013to March 2014, weather permitting. The work will involve:

  • Widening the eastern side of Condamine Streetby about one metre for a length of about 300 metres
  • Rebuildingtraffic lights and removing the median
  • Replacing damaged concrete slabs
  • Installing sections of new kerbing and guttering and stormwater drainage
  • Movingessential services, such water, gas, telecommunications and electricity
  • Linemarking, signposting and minor landscaping.

To minimise traffic disruptions, work will mainly be done at night, between Sunday and Thursday, from 8pm to 5am.If required, day work will be carried out from Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and on Saturdays from 7am to 1pm.

Traffic conditions will change on Condamine Street between Sloane Crescent and Fishbourne Road during work with minor delays expected for motorists. Partial lane closures will be in place to create a safe working area for Roads and Maritime staff and to ensure road user safety. Motorists are asked to follow the signs, reduced speed limits and the direction of traffic controllers.

There will be noise associated with this work. Every effort will be made to minimise the impact on residents.Roads and Maritime apologises for any inconvenience this night work may cause and appreciates the patience of residents and motorists while we carry out this essential work.
