Letter to local active podiatrists / NHS dept heads / Branches – suggested copy

Dear insert contact name

BSc Hons Podiatry

I am writing to you in my capacity as the admissions tutor for the podiatry programme here at xxxxx University.

Every year we open our doors to a new cohort of podiatry students who will, a few years down the line become the next generation of podiatrists providing the enthusiasm and energy to continue moving our profession forward.

I know from my experience that many students apply for a place on the course having been influenced by a visit to a podiatrist, either as a patient or accompanying a patient. So I know how influential you / your members / your team (delete as relevant) are in helping us recruit each new cohort of students.

I wanted to ask for your help in spreading the word about podiatry as a career choice. Coming through your clinic door in the next few weeks or months, could well be someone who, a few years from now, makes a breakthrough in podiatric research, helps solve a crime through podiatric forensics, has a huge impact on mobility in their local community or saves someone’s limb through skilled and timely intervention.

You and I know Podiatry is a career that provides a huge diversity of opportunities and immense job satisfaction, we just need to help as many people as possible find out about it.

I have included some leaflets with specific information regarding podiatry and the degree course for you to give out & help us find and educate the next generation of practitioners.

If you use social media please join us & help spread the word

P.S. Please do let me know if you have any feedback or great ideas for how we could encourage more people to consider podiatry as a career.
