  1. Call to Order – the chairperson welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 7:07p.m.
  1. Adoption of Agenda – it was agreed to adopt the agendaunder general consent.
  1. Approval of Minutes – itwas agreed to adopt the minutes of February 1, 2017, that were circulated,under general consent.
  1. REPORTS:
  1. Administration – Wayne Pallett

The ATA New Teacher induction service is tomorrow evening and we have several new teachers being inducted. Distinguished Achievement awards are Thursday, April 13, 2017. Inductees are Dr. Gillian McKay and Judge Greg Maxwell. Grade 9 Honors program should be up and running. The Automotives program will be returning and we will be hiring a teacher. Job and Career Fair April 6th has about 40 vendors confirmed to date. The hallway beyond gymnasium has been painted.

Wednesday March 8th will be a press conference for two winners for the AGLC and SAD drawing contest winners.

The percentage of families now registered on PowerSchool continues to increase. We are probably at about 76 percent.

Parent Teacher interviews are March 23, 2017, from 5:00 to 8:00 in the cafeteria.

  1. District School Council – Trina Tymko

There has not been a meeting since we last met due to the annual Town Hall Meeting. The next DSC meeting is March 6, 2017.

  1. School Board Trustee – Mich Forster

No report available. Board Trustee report will be attached to these minutes.

  1. School Council Chair–nothing to report.
  1. BUSINESS ARISING:
  1. ASCA AGM and Policy Proposals – reviewed deadline dates for links and information, registration etc. Resolutions will be sent out to distribution list and we will review these resolutions at our April meeting.
  2. Annual Town Hall Meeting –new format of moving stations throughout the evening was well received. Results should be coming out shortly.
  3. Canada 150 Scholarship Breakfast – very well attended and the guest speaker was very dynamic.
  4. Letter of Concern to DSC – the letter that was approved at our February 1, 2017, meeting was forwarded to District School Council with the request that the matter be placed on their agenda for their next meeting.
  1. NEW BUSINESS:
  1. 2017 Staff Appreciation Luncheon – June 2, 2017, is tentatively set for this event. Discussion took place regarding format. The opportunity last year to donate money rather than bringing a food item was very popular. The idea of purchasing the entire meal and having parents donate money rather than food was suggested. Wayne will check with staff to see what their preference might be. Nancy volunteered to coordinate this event.
  1. CORRESPONDENCE:
  1. Minister of Education Youth Council – an invitation was sent out with information on this new opportunity. Deadline to apply is May 5, 2017.
  2. ASCA Enews – was sent out by email.
  1. NEXT MEETING – Wednesday, April 5,2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the Learning Commons.
