Lesson Plans- Pre-AP Math

Winter/Spring 2017

DATE: 1/9 – 1/13

Monday

Objective: The students will be able to make predictions and determine solutions using experimental data for simple and compound events.

Activity:

  • Warm-Up: Google calendar
  • Making predictions notes- students work on making predictions to given events
  • How is experimental probability used to make predictions?
  • Google Classroom- students practice problems using their dry erase boards and working with their partners

Closing Product: We will miss no more than 3 questions on google classroom.

Homework: Skill Sheet #1 due Friday

Materials Needed: notes, dry erase boards, chrome book

Tuesday

Objective: I will be able to solve problems using qualitative and quantitative predictions and comparisons from simple experiments.

Activity:

  • Warm-Up
  • Movie Probability Activity- students analyze data and interpret the results
  • Of the students who saw Movie C, what is the probability that a student saw both movies?
  • Of the students who did not see Movie C, what is the probability that they saw Movie D?

Closing Product: We will miss no more than 4 questions on our activity.

Homework: Skill Sheet #1 due Friday

Materials Needed: activity

Wednesday

Objective: The students will be able to determine experimental and theoretical probabilities related to simple and compound events using data and sample spaces.I will be able to solve problems using qualitative and quantitative predictions and comparisons from simple experiments.

Activity:

  • Students prepare for their upcoming test by working on their review packet.
  • How do you find the probability when you have two events occur?

Closing Product: We will be able to complete at least 75% of the review packet prior to leaving.

Homework: Skill Sheet #1 due Friday and Review Packet due Thursday

Materials Needed: review packet

Thursday

Objective: The students will be able to determine experimental and theoretical probabilities related to simple and compound events using data and sample spaces.I will be able to solve problems using qualitative and quantitative predictions and comparisons from simple experiments.

Activity:

  • Students prepare for their upcoming test by going over their review packet and working on practice problems.
  • How do you find the probability with replacement and without replacement?

Closing Product: We will be able to state how we plan on studying for tomorrow’s test.

Homework: Skill Sheet #1 due Friday and study

Materials Needed: review packet key
