Lesson 14: The Story of Creation and Adam
Objectives:Identify Adam as the first messenger.
Identify Adam as the first man.
Explain the story of Adam without omitting these events:
Allah created Adam from clay/dust.
He lived in Eden.
Iblis would not bow to Adam, so he became the Satan.
Adam listened to Satan and ate from the forbidden tree.
Adam was sent to live on earth and bare hardships.
Materials:Life Begins by Saniyasnain Khan
The First Man by Saniayasnain Khan
Green, brown, and white construction paper.
Glue
Scissors
Pre-cut tree pieces for the little guys
Apple stickers or stamps
Copies of Adam Song Lyrics
Copies of pg. 10 and 12 of The First Man on Earth by Saniyasnain Khan
Procedure:1. Open circle time with a sura. Then sing a couple of songs that the kids suggest.
2. Introduce the story of creation by reading Life Begins by Saniyasnain Khan.
3. Discuss the story after reading it by asking these questions:
What did Allah make first? (The skies).
What did Allah put in the skies?
What did Allah make next? (The earth)
What did Allah put in the earth?
What kinds of animals did Allah put in the oceans?
Why do we thank Allah? (Because he made everything.)
4. Introduce the story of Adam by reading The First Man by
Saniyasnain Khan. After reading it, discuss the story by asking these questions:
What did Allah make man from?
What was man’s name?
Where did Adam live?
What did Shaton whisper to Adam?
What happened to Adam when he listened to Shaton?
What was Adam’s job on earth?
5. Introduce the Adam Song by first singing it for the students and having them listen. Then sing it together a few times.
6. Show students how to cut pieces to make a tree and then glue them onto a piece of paper. Then show them how to stick or stamp forbidden fruit onto the tree.
7. Have students return to their tables to make a forbidden tree.
8. As students are working on their trees and record the accuracy of the answers to these questions:
What was the name of the man that ate from the tree?
Who told him to eat from the tree?
Where did the tree grow?
Why was Shaton jealous of Adam?
Why did Adam have to leave Eden?
What was Adam’s job on Earth?
Evaluation:Record students’ answers to the questions listed above.
Assign a grade for the students’ trees.
Grade homework.
Homework:Color pages 10 and 12 of The First Man on the Earth Coloring Book by Saniyasnain Khan
Tell students to have their parents help them read the scripts on the bottom of the page and practice the Adam Song with their parents. (Send home a copy of the song lyrics).
