1.School Violence and Vandalism Report

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education asserts that it has fulfilled the legal obligation to present the school violence and vandalism report for the 2015-2016 school year at this public meeting of the Lenape Valley Board of Education, as stipulated by P.L. 2001,c. 298. (Attached)

2.NJSIAA Membership Resolution – 2016-2017

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education adopt the following membership resolution for the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Assistant Superintendent for Business be authorized to pay the 2016-2017 membership dues to the NJSIAA in the amount of $2,150.

3.Band Camp

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education does hereby approve the attendance of forty-two students along with faculty and parent chaperones to attend Camp Canadensis in Canadensis, PA to be held August 25, 2016, through August 28, 2016. The camp will be funded by the Lenape Valley Band Parents Association.

4.Superintendent Merit Goals

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education approves the Superintendent’s Merit Goals listed below for the 2016-2017 school years:

Quantitative

  • The number of students registered in Calculus AP class will increase by 50%.

2013 – 6

2014 – 7

2015 – 6

2016 – 12

2017 – 18

  • The Administration will conduct a school climate survey for staff and students. At least 90% of each grade will participate in the survey. A plan will be put in place within 120 days to remediate 95% of the academic areas of concern.

  • The number of ninth graders in a higher level math class other than Algebra 1 will increase to 25%.

2012 – 20 students - 9.8%

2013 – 45 students - 19.0%

2015 – 30 students - 17.0%

Qualitative

The science and business teachers at Lenape Valley will transition from analog unit planning and curriculum design to the Rubicon online curriculum mapping program and unit plan system. This will allow for articulation of planning and pacing, assessment of proper use of content standards, and utilization of updated curriculum. The results will be based on participation rates in professional development and evaluation of unit plans.

The Superintendent will complete a thorough review, update and present for approval to the Board of Education 100% of all current job descriptions.

5.District Goals

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education approves the District Goals listed below for the 2016-2018 school years:

  1. To conduct data driven analysis of school performance in order to monitor and make curricular and instructional changes to affect student performance. In support of this goal:
  • Completion of instructional standards will be recorded by teachers via the Rubicon Atlas curriculum mapping program.
  • Analysis of the grade distribution by departments will occur at the end of each year.
  • Common assessments will be created for use by teachers, instructing the same course to aid in comparison analysis.
  • Teacher observation scores will be compared against the annual grade distributions.
  1. Over the course of two school years of this plan, eighty-five percent of graduates will be accepted into four-year colleges.
  1. To create and drill an effective reunification plan for students and their families in the case of a catastrophe or emergency requiring an expeditious evacuation of the building.
  1. To develop and execute action plans in the PARCC-tested areas to improve test scores.

6.Summer Camp Dates

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education approves the dates for the Lenape Valley Regional High School Summer Camp for the 2016-2017 school year as listed below:

  • Boys’ & Girls’ Soccer – July 18-22, 2016 (CO Johnson Field)
  • Boys’ Basketball – July 25-28, 2016
  • Tennis – June20-23, 2016
  • Football – July 18-20, 2016

7.Official Start of Athletic Practice Dates

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education approves, as mandated by the guidelines established by the NJSIAA, the official start of practice dates for the fall athletic season of the 2016-2017 school year as listed below:

  • Cross Country – August 15, 2016•Boys’ Soccer – August 17, 2016
  • Field Hockey – August 15, 2016•Girls’ Soccer – August 17, 2016

RESOLVED, That the Board of Education authorizes the submission of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Consolidated Formula Grant District Number NCLB372615, application for the 2016-2017 fiscal year, accepting the funding allocation for the Lenape Valley Regional High School District of $47,550for Title I and Title II and refusing the allocation of $1,698 for Title III as follows:

RESOLVED, That Student #1 (2016-2017 school year number) be permitted to attend Celebrate the Children, 230 Diamond Spring Road, Denville, New Jersey 07834, as part of this student’s individualized educational program for the 2016-2017 school year as recommended by the Child Study Team.
