TERI DRISCOLL

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Well the hot days of summer are upon us and many are preparing for that longed for summer vacation.

If you have not seen our website yet, please log on to It is very exciting to see our very own web page. A big thank-you to Nancy Teague and Donna Black for making this happen.

During the month of July we have a Lunch and Learn scheduled for July 20. Aimee L. Smith, Esq. of Craige Brawley Liipfert and Walker, LLP will be speaking to us on What Non-Elder Law Attorneys Need to Know to Serve Their Elderly Clients. We are hoping for a good turnout.

Also on July 21 we have been asked to help the Forsyth County Bar Association with their annual blood drive. This will be held in Courtroom 6B at the Hall of Justice. If you have not already volunteered to help out that day, there still is time to sign up. I will be sending out the sign-up sheet via e-mail and passing it around again at the membership meeting.

Please note that our Membership Meeting on July 13th has been changed to the Tanglewood Room on the Twelfth Floor of Womble Carlyle. Hope to see you there. Come and help us plan our social so that we can all get to know each other better.

I hope you are making plans to attend the Fall Seminar at the Avista Resort, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on September 15 & 16. While we will be attending seminars, we also will have time to do some “fun” things and get to know each other better. It also gives us the opportunity to meet so many nice people from the other LSS Chapters throughout the State.

Once again, my door is always open. If there are any questions any of you need answered or I can be of help to you, please contact me.

Many, many thanks to the officers and membership of Legal Support Staff of Winston-Salem for the adorable frog serving plate that was presented to me at the officer’s installation. For those of you who do not know, I am a “frog-a-holic” because of a sentimental nickname from my Grandpa -- so of course I loved it! It was great fun to get something for my new house as well. I put it to an unorthodox use though – it’s next to my whirlpool tub in my master bath. The frog’s little hand holds my jewelry around the butterfly and the lily pad holds my bath necessities while I’m the frog in the tub! I smile each time I see it and think of what great friends I have in LSS. Most of all, I am so pleased that you thought of me as I stepped down from the Board. After being on the Board for nine years, I do not quite know how to behave now! It has been an honor to serve in each office, and I thank you for that privilege as well.

A Sunday School teacher began her lesson with a question, "Boys and girls, what do we know about God?
A hand shot up in the air. "He is an artist!" said the kindergarten boy.
"Really? How do you know?" the teacher asked.
"You know - Our Father, who does art in Heaven... "
