Parents and Guardians:

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, and introduce you to what you should expect as your child is taking AP Psychology. I look forward to this year, working with both you and your child. This experience should be challenging, yet rewarding, and with your support, it is my goal that they are better prepared for future educational challenges and have learned the curriculum required to take the AP exam in the spring.

My first expectation is that your child is excited to learn more about the discipline of psychology. I hope this excitement translates to active conversation both inside and outside the classroom. It is also my hope that you help me ensure that your student is completing the at home assignments regularly, as the assignments are necessary for success in the class. The pace will be faster than their Psychology 1 class, if they have taken it. They will be responsible for at home assignments and readings, as well as consistent studying. Cramming for a test the night before will be proven ineffective. Your child should be completing their summer homework. If they do not have it, please contact me at the e-mail address below.

Second, I expect that your student will take the AP exam in the spring. The purpose of the course is not only to educate your students in the advanced study of psychology, but also prepare them for this exam. Consider it our “Super Bowl”- we will be putting effort throughout the year on readying ourselves for this test, and if your student is successful, they very well could test out of this requirement in college. The cost is about $89, and through our AP Club, the students have an opportunity to fundraise the money for themselves.

Lastly, I fully anticipate your involvement. Please do not hesitate to call me at the school (799-1777) or e-mail me () if you have questions or concerns at any time. Also, I will start posting items of interest on my legacyhigh.net page. Please feel free to check it frequently. Our jobs are to help your child be successful, and I look forward to the challenges and victories ahead.

Sincerely,

Ms. Amie Miner
